Now we are not thread crapping Jim's preview/Mexico thread. My thesis is the Aztars are great and the Lady Lucks are close.

For those who missed it, the chips on the bottom are brand new and will be for sale soon from thechiproom.

Anybody who wants to can borrow/use my picture. I lifted all the images from thechiproom and chipguide anyway.

Fair call, although that thread is gonna get swamped with traffic regardless.

 :ROFLMAO:

On a chip v chip basis, the 500 and 5k are the only battle that's close. The 500 colours are awesome on the lady luck's, but the spot pattern let's it down imo.

I don’t want to poop on his threads. But from what I can gather, this casino had 4 poker tables. So how big could this tournament set be?
I guess the fact that there are T5k chips, is reason for optimism? Because a 4-table T5 set wouldn’t even need them. So maybe they were hoping to host some big events?

It’s like a Harley vs a moped IMO. And if you don’t know which is which you probably ride a moped!

I’m happy there are more Paulson chips on the market but you could offer them to me for free and I’d pass.

Dude your comparison is like comparing two turds.

Harley's are couches on wheels that break down all the time.

The T5 is not close either. Lady Luck by a mile.
I never cared for the Aztar T5 until I got a few last year. It’s not a bright chip like the rest of the set but it’s a really pretty chip with the dark spots.
The unusually large lack of 100/500 contrast has always bothered me.
I always thought there would be a ton of dirty stacks, but we have had very little issue. A charcoal T100 would’be been the shit, but can’t win em all.

Now that I look, I think the hot stamps are very interesting. Casinos from the same town in Missouri. Fonts of the denoms are identical. Wouldn't surprise me if all of these came from the factory around the same time.

The Aztar T5 came from a Paulson Christmas party. The press operator got drunk and wanted to make a Christmas chip. Next day his boss told them they sucked and they would foist them on the next suckers who came along needing a spotted red hotstamp chip.

What's the history around the Aztars? I see that it changed hands aroind 2008. How did people acquire those and how often do hot stamped spotted NCVs come around?

Are counts of the Aztars available? Maybe that would provide insight into how many of the Lady Lucks there are.

My guess is 10 of each set for a total of:

T5 1000
T25 2200
T100 2000
T500 1000
T1000 500
T5000 300

I don't think you're far off. When a set contains 30 of a denom, it is reasonable to assume there are 300 overall and that they have been divided into 10 sets.
