I have been toying with the idea of buying casino tokens to match some of my sets, to use as bounty chips. I was thinking that it would be pretty cool to have them match the chip set, but also, it could double as a card guard for anyone who didn't bring one. To keep it affordable, I was thinking of using the $1 gaming tokens (although I love using the $5 tokens are my card guard). They're pretty readily available on eBay, and they have them for a variety of different casinos, and I thought it might be fun.
Here are a couple of photos of what I was thinking...I just copied them from eBay, so somebody is getting free advertising -- hope that is compensation enough for me using their images. But if anyone has a problem with me posting the images here, let me know and I'll take them down (No, I didn't check with Patrick's Gaming Shoppe).
Has anyone used tokens as bounty chips? I have heard that people don't like to use tokens in sets, because when combined with clay chips in a splashed pots, the clay chips can take a beating. But shouldn't be a problem with a bounty.
Anyone see a downside to this? I imagine that over time, they won't look as pretty, as they are handled, tossed around, and scratched up a bit. But it seems like they'd stay shiny and pretty for quite a long time.
I'm working on Mapes tokens at the moment. I will work on the actual Mapes chips later on
