Hello friends,

I'm looking to buy my first set of cellulose acetate playing cards. I know Kem makes these, but they are really expensive. I live in Europe and they are hard to find. I couldn't find a store that sells them. If someone knows a store in Europe I'd appreciate it.

I also read on the forum that Modiano Platinum is cellulose acetate. I'm not sure about the quality/feel and long term durability. Please share your experience with these and if someone has some pictures of regular index Modiano Platinums feel free to share them as well. Also I saw different packaging and don't know if the cards are the same.

That are the only two brands I know that produce cellulose acetate cards. I'm wondering if there are more companies out there.

Greetings

Hi!

KEM has no experience and probably won't because the price is absurd. But I was able to buy Modiano Platinum acetate last year for €4. I have liked them, they have been durable. They bow a little but evenly so it doesn't matter and they are easy to handle when mixing. I posted my own thread on the subject here before, there are pictures.

Platinums are excellent cards - only in poker size. Standart and jumbo index, red and blue.
2 different packages (old/new) - same cards.
Best offers on Amazon.
There is a way to get them flat when they‘re bowed.
I really like these cards!

That's good to hear that the quality of the cards stayed the same over the years even though they changed the packaging.
You mentioned that there is a way to flatten the cards if they are bowed. Do you mind explaining your method or is there already a thread and you can send me the link?
Appreciate it

Yeah it's a shame that KEM's are so expensive. But I'm glad to hear about your experience with Modiano. At least there is a competitor to KEM that is affordable. I checked out your thread, but I was searching for pictures of regular index cards. Either way I will buy a pair of Platinums and when I get them maybe upload the pictures for people that are interested.
Thank you for the recommendation :)
