Hi everyone.

I love to play tournaments, but I've decided to build a "cheap" cash set, which I can use when don't have enough time for a tournament or for people eliminated from the game.
I want to play $20 - $50, so I think I need chips for 5c (100), 25c (140), $1 (120), $5 (100), and $20 (40).

At the moment, I have these chips in mind to be relabeled:

I think I can choose some blue chips for the 25c, but I don't know what "cheap" chip will fit well in this proposal.
I've already had (in the road to my home) the $1 (Jack Cincy) and the $5 (HSI), but I'm open to change the other three chips, and also the value of each one.

For the label, I think I'll ask to @Gear for some generic label, although I can introduce some little changes to personalize a little.
These are a few labels I like more:
1. Paris

2. Empress

--> I know these labels are great in these THC chips, but I'm not sure if they will look the same in the RHC ones.

Please, let me know your opinion about what chips I can use, and what existing label fits well.
Remember, I can't afford expensive chips.

Thank you so much in advance!
Carlos.

Edit: only casino used chips
Edit 3: A bit expensive. I have to decide the green chip

Hi Sir if you not have problems with a mixed mold can try with the blue RHC Garden City $1 is a cheap option
your second option is Empress Joliet this is a textured inlay and leaded THC Paulson is a diferent animal
good luck in your hunt.

You could also buy this set and use the green as 5 cents, the black as 25 cents and the yellow as $20
I prefer spotted chips in general, that's why I only want "non-spotted" chips for 5c and 25c.
But the green ones are great for the set, thank you.

Thanks for the advice, but I think Garden City $1 has a giant inlay, I don't think I can relabel them.

you can use the green and black for 5 and 25 and sell the others, then find a non black chip to use for $20

Were there $1's in good condition or were they all beat to shit? You recall when that sale occurred?

2. Empress star
FYI. Those are referred to as Empress. Empress Star is a different set of chips all together.

With regards to a 25c chip you will be hard pressed to find a cheap blue rhc. You may want to consider using the jack cinci primary $25 for 25c and look for a different colour rhc solid for your 5c.

If you've already found some inlay designs you like from real casinos, by all means just replicate them on labels and relabel whatever chips you've got. They'll look great regardless of THC vs RHC.

You could easily put a couple of small touches that would personalize them rather than purely duplicating the original. It's by no means necessary; it's up to you to decide whether that would make them more appealing to you.

The alternative would be to spend some time and potentially some money coming up with a custom design that's original to you. Lots of people do, but again it's by no means necessary, and it can be quite the undertaking.

^^ x 2. I've never been a fan of solids until recently, but now I like the idea of using them as fracs in a cash set. But I've gotten so used to the idea of red=5 and green=25 that I don't think I could switch them, I would always be confused by green nickels or red quarters (especially after a couple of beers). The price of solids (starbursts, etc.) has gotten as high as spotted casino Paulsons, unfortunately. I've learned that patience is really important when trying to put together Paulson sets on a tight budget.

Also, I'm awake when other American guys are selling chips and I can't get in on the good deals in time either. :(

I've struggled with this for my set so I empathize. I like the idea of using the green Harrah's 25 as your 25c. You said you need 140 of them and they're relatively easy to source.

Have you thought about using the Resorts Tunica 5 as your 5c? I see a couple racks available on eBay that you can get right away. They're hotstamps, though. I don't know how you feel about that but if that doesn't bother you, that could be an easy idea. The only hitch is that the Resorts Tunica red is very similar to the HSI $5 red you have now. That could cause some confusion should they mix in the pot but considering there are 2 other denominations between them, I don't think it's a deal breaker.

Good luck with your choice! I'm sure your set will end up being awesome. I really like your choice for your $20.

I think I'll choose a nice label with a couple of changes, like the localization, or something like that. I don't think I'll be able to make a custom design, lack of experience.

Yes, this is a good option, the cheapest one for quarters. Nice idea.

I think is not a good idea two red chips in same set. And I want to relabel all of them, and they need to be milled :confused

Thank you very much, I appreciate a lot you help.
In a few days, I'll have a new proposal.

Are you removing the inlays of any of the chips for your set?
No at the moment. I'll wait until I have all the chips before removing inlays.
This summer I have a week, when my family is on vacation and me alone at home, working and chipping :)
