Hi all, I am considering buying some Majestics sometime but was wondering about what China clay actually is? The chips I currently have are Nexgen River Poker Tour (which feels very much like plastic). I was hoping someone out there had felt both of these chips and could tell me if they feel the same. I of course don't want them if they are "plasticy". Thank you.

Most (all?) 10g china clays are much less plastic-feeling than the original Nexgens, which are 12g chips with metal slugs (and have almost a rubbery hockey puck feel when compared to most slugged chips). China clay formulas do differ, and some feel more 'chalky' and less-plastic like than others (PGI-produced chips, primarily).

Yes, buy some samples. However, the Majestics are worlds above the ABS plastic Nexgens. They are not Paulsons or CPC chips, but they're decent for what you pay..

You are probably thinking of the Nexgen Pro chips, which are 9g unweighted injection-molded plastic. Not the same materials or construction as the older Nexgen 12g slugged chips.

The Nexgen 12g slugged aren't ABS? I wasn't even thinking about the Nexgen Pros (which aren't a horrible bargain chip IMHO).

I was referring to the Majestics (china clays in general) being decent.

I don't think so. The plastic is much softer, like a hockey puck (closer to Sopranos than anything else). Also produced before ABS became really popular as a chip material.

Thank you for all the replies. I will get samples for sure. Just wanted to make sure they weren't plastic feeling.

I believe the CC's have calcium carbonate, & possibly other things, added to the plastic, & then are injection molded under a slightly higher pressure than standard slippery ABS types ...

I have the Pharaoh's and CPS, I like both very much but prefer the sound and feel on the Pharaohs.
