I have been begging my wife for a year to give up her craft cabinet. I finally found her a better one to use. So this is my new chip home!! Very happy with it.

"I have been begging my wife for a year..."

I love stories with a happy ending.

That's a great idea. I've been looking for a "map chest of drawers" forever with no luck. Actually found an antique dealer who's husband has one at home. She tried to convince him to sell it...you know cause it's a business and all lol. But he liked it too much.

Might go this route instead. Thx for sharing. Seems sturdy and in no danger of tipping over. (y)

The fourth drawer holds double racks perfectly!!

We've got a small vertical cabinet used to house the china right now. It's neat because it's kind of a display case kind of a thing - there's a window down the front and it's got an interior light. Then the shelves are very sturdy. I'm contemplating using that or trying to find another one like that to use to hold the bird cages. But this idea here gives me pause...thanks for sharing!

Make sure those drawer slides are sturdy. Some are meant to handle clothes, not large amount of poker chips.

It feels pretty stout. It was designed for scrap booking. But will not treat it as though its bullet proof.

And also consider weight distribution. Too many chips in the top drawers and not much in the bottom will make the thing top heavy. Maybe not to the point that it would be inherently unstable but enough that a curious toddler would have an easier time pulling it down if they tried to climb it. Don't ask me how I know about that sort of thing...

I understand the concern. But this cabinet is built to handle a bit of weight. I do not know the amount so will be cautious. There is a weight on the bottom of the cabinet to counter the cabinets top heavy tendency. I will have to watch out for the bottom two shelves that are on sliding rails. But the top three are leveraged to handle some weight.

Nice cabinet, but am I right that it doesn't appear to have any drawer glides? Se ms like that would make opening and closing tough if fully loaded.

It's really not to bad. With 800 chips max per drawer it slides ok but not perfect. Bottom two have slides.
