Hi im looking for help in distributing 400 chips for a $20 buy in poker game.
I have 400 chips in 5 different colors. Plan on playing with 4 or 5 people.
80 white chips
80 red chips
80 green chips
80 blue chips
80 black chips

Looking for distributions for both 4 and 5 amount of people.

Welcome!
Simplest solution would divide 80 by the number of players.

We do have tournament break downs in our New Members Start here thread, link in signature below.

Is this a tournament or cash game? Is there rebuys?

Not a tournament. Need to distribute chips to each person to equal $20

I would do this:
If you have 5 players
Blue = .10 - each player gets 15 = $1.50
Green = .50 - each player gets 15 = $7.50
White = $1 = each player gets 11 = $11

If you have 4 players
Blue = .10 - each player gets 20 = $2
Green = .50 - each player gets 20 = $10
White = $1 = each player gets 8 = $8

You can do blinds of 0.10/.20
Colors don't really matter but I would just stick with white $1's since that's the normal in Atlantic City (I see you're from NJ)

Need the distribution of the chips to equal $20. Dont need to use all the colors

Thank you! Appreciate you

Or you can give each player all 80 chips of their own color and make all of them worth 0.25. This way you can bust each other at the end of the night and see who's chips you won the most of.
Make the blinds .25/.25

This idea is fun, but if you are thinking of a more traditional setup, I would suggest 5¢-10¢ blinds with a $20 max buy in.
red = 5¢
green = 25¢
blue = $1
white = $5

Issue 15/13/11/1 of 5¢/25¢/$1/$5 for your first 5 starting stacks.
6th stack can use the leftover chips, 5/7/19 of 5¢/25¢/$1
Any further buy ins can be in $5 chips.

I like this too.

Seconding this. I would probably make white 5¢ and red $5, but really you can assign whatever color to whatever value you want. 5 colors is too many different denominations for a game like this, so I'd stick to using 4 at most. If you're doing no rebuys, you can just do 3 denominations of 15/13/14 (5c/25c/$1), no need for a $5 chip if you have enough $1s and no one will buy back in.
