Hello all, I am new here. I've always wanted a set of poker chips for no particular reason. Today I picked up a set at an auction, and I was hoping someone could shed some light on what they really are. The gentleman there said they were really old, and that's all he knew. Whether that is the truth or not is anybody's guess. I weighed them on my kitchen scale, it does not show decimals for grams, but they weigh in as 12 grams and they do stick to a magnet, so they have metal in them for weight. Many of the sets are still in their original plastic wrap. They came in a nice, real wood case with fair hinges and really nice latches.
I'd like to know if they are a clay mixture, and manufacturer if possible. I know nothing about poker chips, just that I wanted a set.

Until I posted the image here, I didn't notice the little raised dot in the channel, visible on the bottom of the chip image, they all seem to have that on just one side, what is that?

Plastic injection molded chips. Likely slugged to bring them to 14 gram “official casino weight” lol. Hope you didn’t pay much for them

Also, if any chips you buy come pre packaged in plastic you can guarantee that they are not clay chips

thanks for the info, I didn't pay anything for them, they were in a random box someone else bought and he didn't want the chips.
