I started hosting home games and wanted to get some nicer chips. my budget is around .50 per chip, so I I'm leaning towards the Majestic Card Room chips by Apache Poker. I wanted to see if anyone had any other recommendations for other chips. I do need a .25 and .50 cent chip.

I would look into the Tina chip group but if you’re ok with waiting 3 months. Or check out the classifieds for a used Tina set

spend a little and get some good chips. They make the game a whole lot better imo. Players love the feel of quality chips!

approx how much more per chip are we talking about?
My comment didn't concern chip prices -- it endorsed the point that you don't need 50-cent chips if you have quarters. In general, chip values should increase by multiples of 4 or 5. The most common exception is 500/1000, but people are generally handicapped when it comes to math anyway...

As others have mentioned, you absolutely don't need both quarter and fifty cent chips, that's an unwise use of your chip funds. What might be better is to just get some extra quarters, or, maybe a non denominated frac...a chip with no monetary value printed on it.

The Majestic are decent chips, but, I prefer the 43mm Royals over the Majestic. The Majestic colors are not as sharp as the Royal, and, they often have a funky plastic smell. Royals are slightly more expensive, but, minimally.

What stakes are you playing? What games do you play that would require you to have both quarters and fifty cents chips?

.25 /.50 it just helps cut down on the amount of .25 cent chips i would need

Multiple fracs are a no-no...and this is from a "Moar Fracs" guy. They are just a gateway to the game. That's why I ask what games and stakes you're playing. If you're running a quarter-fifty game, where most people buy in for $100, then you're workhorse chip will likely be your $5. People usually aren't raising using fracs. I have two racks of fracs for many of my sets because I like them, but, @Machine has taught me that you can run a great game with as few as 60 fracs.
