It's back! You may have seen my "Chip Shots" giveaways last year, but I won't bother linking to them because the Major Tradition rules have changed a bit and our own format will too. You may want to review Major Tradition's tournament rules here and their new "Circuit" summary/FAQ here.
This thread will serve as a master thread for all of 2025 (11 events).
Our Private Pools
Our private pools will not change much from last year. Anyone in our club can submit a foursome for each event.
On each hole, your score is the *best* score from among your four chosen golfers. If one golfer birdies and the rest par, you birdie. If 3 golfers par and one bogies, you par. If any of your golfers miss the cut, you do not replace them. Check out last year's Masters leaderboard if you need a more visual example.
Our Prizes
I'll post one chip per entry as a winner-takes-all prize for each tournament. The pot will be revealed at the start of each event, after entries are final. CONUS shipping is covered. International winners can have a $5 credit towards shipping.
I'll also post a season prize of two chips per club member. I'd love to get to 50 club members so I can give away a full rack to our season winner.
NEW: Last Man Standing
By popular request, this year we'll introduce an OPTIONAL last man standing (LMS) pool for each tournament. The buy-in will be $20 and winner takes all.
If you want to participate, you must CLEARLY say so in this thread, before each tournament starts. If you're committed to participating for the rest of the season, you can say so and we'll automatically count you in for all remaining events. You can also revoke such a statement, as long as your intentions are clear. I'll post the LMS entry list near the beginning of each event to get everyone on the same page.
To minimize transactions, losers will pay the winner directly. If anyone fails to pay, I will NOT cover for them. But of course they'll be publicly shamed and won't be allowed to enter the LMS pool again.
The Circuit
The "Circuit" is Major Tradition's new feature that pits all "Clubs" against each other. Our top 5 scores for each event (from among up to 20 designated entries) will contribute to our club's score on the Circuit leaderboard.
For the first event (mid-February), we'll designate our first 20 entries to play on the Circuit. For subsequent events, if we get more than 20 entries, the 20 that are highest on our leaderboard will represent us on the Circuit.
Circuit Prizes
As a founder of Major Tradition, my club is not eligible for any of the normal/free Circuit prizes at the end of 2025. But the six founders have rigged up a side pool which will pay out $600 to 1st, $400 to 2nd, and $200 to 3rd. If I win one of those prizes, I'll pass half the payout on to you guys - payout schedule pending.
That's it! All you have to do now is join the club and post your MT name below, so we know who is who. If we end up with any club members that cannot be matched to a PCF user, they will be removed.
There's nothing else to do just yet because entry is not currently open for the first event. I'll let you know when it's time, in a few days.
