These aren't cheap...a sample set like the one you show, went for $25 over on the chipboard. At the Bruce Landau auction a few weeks ago at the ccggttcc convention a sample set of 4 went for $15 + the normal auction buyers premiums.

Agreed, and over on the chipboard when David Spragg sold the sample set at $25ish, I believe he quoted a similar set going for $40 once. And one of these sets, either his or the $40 set, were notched. I love chipcos, and I know that the price of a sample set has little relation to the price of a rack, but I don't understand this at all.
As I remember, everything from the chipco collection when it was sold piece by piece on the chipboard, whoever bought it, was notched. This included sets done for casinos and card rooms, but also sets that looked like they were done for private companies and home use. Guess the decision was made, either by the buyer or whoever brokered the remnants of the chipco stock, that it was better to notch everything in case something was live somewhere.
