- AUCTION GUIDELINES
- The highest bid at the closing time listed above will win. If there is a bid within 5 minutes of the closing time (original or extended closing time), 5 minutes shall be added to the time of the last bid, until there are no bids within the final 5 minutes. Because seconds are not displayed on post timestamps, these examples will be used as a reference.
- No Reserve. The Starting Bid of this auction will be treated as the Reserve Price.
- Bids must be placed in whole US dollars, following the specified minimum increment amounts. The use of the dollar sign is optional. Bids using images or spelled out numbers are not valid.
- All bids are to be placed openly in this thread. No bids via Private Message/Convo. Sellers are not permitted to bid on their own auctions.
- The seller reserves the right to edit the listing to clarify statements or correct any errors.
- Once a valid bid is made, the auction can not be canceled. Bid edits and/or retractions are not permitted. Violations of this rule will result in discipline at the discretion of PCF Admins and/or Moderators.
- PCF (its Owner, Admins, and Moderators) are not responsible for any actions or outcomes that take place in this auction.
Please don't get excited because these Closet of Junk Auctions chips are mostly going to be my lesser chips. Think of it as if America auctioned off Boise but kept all of its other cities.
My laziness requires that I sell all of my junk that I won't be able to use for anything all at once to minimize the number trips to the UPS Store. I'll be staggering the ends of these auctions both in terms of ending times and days so as not to confuse the fuck out myself (which is easy to do), and chips will be shipped within a few days of the conclusion of the final Closet of Junk Auction. Everything is priced below what I paid and represents an attempt to be below what I think is FMV, but I'm not @Jacks and I'm not starting an auction at $1 cause I've seen what y'all do with $1 auctions these days. This is why we can't have nice things around here; I'd rather just hurl the chips at @Josh Kifer as a deterrent when he tries to do inappropriate things to myself or others in attendance at COTS playing in the higher stakes 4/5 card games.
So. We all make chipping mistakes. Some of make bigger and more expensive mistakes than other. And we unknowingly and unintentionally hurt feelings in the process.
Context: Years and Years ago I didn't realize Ambassador $5s were an endangered species. I'm not convinced they actually are but for the sake of this story let's pretend they are. I also didn't realize Nevada $5s were reasonably obtainable. I purchased 3 racks of Nevada $5s. I also purchased a set that included 3 racks of Ambassador $5s. I had no use for the Ambassador $5s and their edge spot colors are pretty close to the edge spot colors of Nevada $5s. I thought my sets needed 6 racks of $5s to be playable. What do you think happened? I think you know what happened. The kick in the nuts was I didn't realize that the inlays were paper, and the cost to outsource paper inlay removal is like $3/chip, but I was mentally pot committed at that point and moved forward with the pissing money away endeavor. I fucked up, @RocAFella1, I'm sorry, we can pour one out at COTS.
Anyway, on the "bright side" I think these faux-shaped labels look nicer than their original labels, albeit not authentic, so it comes down to taste. I think these are better conditioned than some of the other casino used Ambassador $5s that are out there, for example, I think these are better conditioned than the Ambassador $5s listed in Auction #8. CONUS only. I only ship via UPS and shipping will be $20 added onto the final auction price. If shipping ends up being a little less, I'll refund the difference, but usually it's not less.
