After 'rediscovering' my ASM clays, I was looking at filling in the upper end of my set. When I bought these in 2007, I used an increasingly complex edgespot progression (well, complex for the time)... however, I've come to the conclusion that it wouldn't be cost efficient to order an add-on from CPC, because there's no way I'd be close to the minimum order size and the required edgespot would be expensive (my highest denom is a 4QD14 Level 9).

So now I'm looking at alternatives, which means plaques or jetons. Has anyone here added plaques/jetons to their chipset, and what were your thoughts after you did it? Did it feel strange to use a plaque and chips when betting? Just trying to get my head wrapped around my next possible steps.

I have a cpc set with 25c $1 $5 and $20 and use $100 plaques from matsui. Which I purchased from apaches website

It works well :-)

Thank you - yes, both sets are custom made. Most of the recent custom plaques you will see on PCF are from MSK gaming (South Korea). The contact is Eui and they are great to deal with :-).

I use the casino royal plaques from Apache for top denoms at some of my tournaments, and the players seem to really like them. Feels like there's more skin in the game when one of them hits the felt.

Absolutely :-) I wish I was content to just have chips, but felt compelled to have plaques as well. Got some pics mate?

What's the minimum order size for MSK?
1 plaque :-), but there is a $30 handling fee.

See attached brochure, and price list. The site is constantly updated as the 'perfect' their art. New additions include gold lettering.

All this talk of plaques and I am designing secondary Blades plaques I don't really need :-).

Plaques? Yes. Absolutely. Jetons? No. They're very light so a 39mm jeton is going to feel like you're playing with Bicycle interlockers. And they've got a completely different feel. The edges are not the same as a standard chip either so you won't get edge spots to be able to easily tell the denomination in a stack with regular chips on top. I like my jetons for what they are - a high hand token and they'd be good for bounty buttons too.

Personally, I don't like having more than one denomination of plaques in play at any given game -- even if they're different sizes.

Maybe that's just me, though...???

I think those are the best plaques I've seen. Just because they're different from that marbelized acryllic whatever look that so many nice plaques have. Very cool!
Those ceramic style plaques have been around for a while. They are much more cost efficient as well. I think the application needs to align with the style of your set. Looking to add a 5k to your PNY set, then I think acrylic style makes sense. If a set has a more domestic theme, such as golf, football, baseball, motorcycles, sci-fI, comics, etc, then I think ceramics are the way to go. Ceramics have many more artwork possibilities than acrylics as well. I've always been a fan of Link's TPP set and I think those plaques are great addition to the set.

Looking at a number of vendors, it looks like the price-per is about the same for acrylic vs. ceramic -- the key factor for me would be the minimum order required.

If this is true, then it looks like I'd have to go ceramic -- I would need the ability to match the "bright" color theme of my chips' inlays.

No argument here -- those are some really nice plaques!

I originally designed ceramic plaques for the Blades set for the reason stated regarding art possibilities, but then MSK 'suddenly' appeared and that was that for me. Bond/Uk/Europe uses acrylic plaques so...

MSK customer service - 10/10
Feel and sound are brilliant
minimums mean I don't need 25 to 50 if I don't want it
I am in Australia so shipping hurts either way

I think the guys are right - whatever fits your theme or art needs.

It is ceramic, and slightly textured as well.

If you look at my Casino Royale set at post #3, you will see the Dealer Plaque - this is the same dimensions, I think, of @links_slayer 's plaque and is ceramic. Mine was made by Old West Poker Supplies, and I think Links' was too. Very good quality work from @OldWestPokerSupplies .

Welcome to PCF. Please post your set of ASM clays you "rediscovered." We need the PR0N!

Ok... is that a textured surface on the top of your plaque, or is it a trick of the light? I'm assuming it's a ceramic...

You know mate, I have been thinking that ceramic is definitely the way to go for you. You could do a blackboard background with various chalk colours etc.., and a coloured 'timber' frame around the edge. Ceramic would allow for such a thing. :-)
