President Casino New Yorker.
booooooooooooooo!!! that was supposed to take more than one guess..... Too easy I guess
So last Friday
@Mental Nomad & I were talking about the history of the
PNY chips during a tournament. As I'm sure he can attest to, I did a horrific job explaining the history as I have a hunters brain and can't do more than one thing at a time (i.e. steady dealing & recalling the finer
PNY history details proved impossible, lol). Since I started assembling my
PNY set several years ago, I've always been interested in the history behind the chips. I've done research here and there, sifting through past threads over at Chiptalk, as well as googling for news articles and other bits of information scattered across the web. One piece of the
PNY puzzle I could never seem to find was a picture of the ship they intended to use. A few hours of free time crept up over the weekend, and our conversation spurred a new interest in getting back to the search. After piecing together several different President Casino Annual Reports, news articles, auction sites, ship spotting enthusiast forums and coast guard records, I believe I finally found her. Now called the "Victory 1" and used for casino cruises out of Port Canaveral, the ship pictured above is the vessel that President Casino had deployed to Brooklyn to house their new floating casino. Here's another photo from 2009, when the ship was called the "Surfside Princess", before Victory restored her:
I've been planning on posting a
PNY history thread, another couple of days and it should be ready. More details on the ship to come!
Congrats
@gopherblue, your prize will be a set of the new
PNY dealer buttons, including a new one with a photo of the cruise ship (mock-up yet to come). It'll probably be about a month before the buttons are ready, I'll shoot you a PM then.
