Just on the long shot that there's anyone around here who collects oddball chips, we're currently on this ship headed to Spain. The tiny "casino" has abs $1s in good condition, and well worn Chipcos for anything $5 and up.

If these would be of interest to anyone, shoot me an email or post here.

Too bad these aren't Paulsons...I'm building a mixed Nautical set. Have fun on your trip and tell us about the juicy poker games on board.

Ha! There aren't any! They have two daily "qualifying tournaments" with buy-ins of $100 -- and no cash payouts. The "qualifying" is for a bigger tournament later this year on another ship, so it's worthless unless you're planning to be on that cruise.

Can you say "Complete rip-off?" I thought you could...

I haven't seen one go yet -- they require four entrants minimum. Afaik, there's only one dummy who signs up regularly.

The tournaments on Royal Caribbean are pretty cheesy events, but the prize package included a two tickets on the finals cruise. Inside staterooms, with isn't my idea of fun, but still you get the cruise as part of the package. And on an Oasis class ship or better back in the day I played. The House's cut was close to zero if you considered that the entries paid for the list price of the future cruise as well as funded the money to be won.

However, the event's structure leads to short play time. Really short. So short you almost start the event with a fold or shove preflop situation. My last run in the event was ended when I shoved pocket sevens preflop in the third blind level and was called by 83s. It was a bad call by 83s but not terrible - that is how short stacked the event started.

Yes, they schedule one tourney at 1pm, and another at 4 pm. And on this ship, there's only one poker table.

Oh Jesabus that is awful. Are there ever any takers who are not visibly intoxicated?

Don't want any of these chips, so sorry if you get a notification that causes you to jump. Just wanted to say that it's very thoughtful of you to do this (repeatedly!) for the community. Thank you!

Thanks, and you're welcome -- it's nothing, really. Just the kind of thing you see all the time on PCF.

Of course, I could be making it all up, and sitting at home in FL, since PCF is still showing the US flag for my posts, and we're dead in the middle of the Atlantic this morning (28.08.59N 46.29.10W). My guess would be that that's an artifact of Royal Caribbean using an American satellite communications provider, but I don't really know...

Anyone know, or have a better guess? (Don't make me resort to traceroute -- I'm on vacation.)

A trip report would be interesting to me. I am taking the reverse of your trip this fall and am wondering what to expect on the trans-Atlantic crossing. While I am immune to sea sickness, my wife is not.

If you end up in Barcelona, I'd also like your opinions about what to see and do. We have three days in Barcelona, Spain at the front of our trip so there is a great opportunity to see some of the best of the area.

How about the daily activities on sea days? What types of schedules should we expect for the off-hours food venues? I don't expect hardly any children or younger people on a crossing cruise which often leads to nothing running after midnight or two am. (I'm a creature of the night and enjoy people watching, but there are cruises where the only people out and about at 3:00 am are the security staff and where the lights are cut off in large parts of the public areas.)

I hope you are all having a great time even if you aren't playing poker on the 10% / $15 max tables. -=- DrStrange
