Damn, you know I love those chips. Wish I hadn't sold off all my horseshoes.

I think your guess would be wrong :)
Though, for the time being, I will be using HSs for the set you are thinking of these are actually for a HS cash set I'm giving to a friend.

Hmm this is tempting.

LCV instead of SCV is causing me some pause though.

Great chips though, hopefully someone jumps on this.

GLWT!

I'm surprised to read this. If I saw them side by side, I could squint and tell the difference. But if you showed me one of them and asked me which it was, I might guess wrong.

Particular issue with LCV vs SCV? They match up in sets fine. Many people don't actually see any difference. :)

I don't mind LCV overall, but I'm a weirdo who has already gone through trying to match LCV quarters with SCV chips and then sold the entire set out of frustration. I don't want to do that again :(

Was the mold difference the reason you sold it or something else?
Have any SCV on one side LCV on the other side (some of the JACK $1s I have are like that) or would that tilt you?

Mold difference in general, it's the Horseshoe Cleveland set. I never found a quarter I liked, plus the RHC $5+ with the THC $1.

I was building a mint JACK $1 limit set until they got pilfered. I actually sorted through the ones I had to remove any I found that were LCV/SCV split, they were all SCV.

Then I bought a couple huge lots of Horseshoe Cleveland chips again to build a $1 limit set. The lots also came with $5s and $25s so I can make it into a playable cash game set if I had quarters, but I still haven't solved that one to my brain's liking. I'm more likely to ditch the $5s and $25s and find a different THC $25 for a mixed limit set. Or just sell them all and do something entirely different, as I've done a couple of times already with these chips.

If I decide to let go of any $1s before you find some I'll let you know. I don't think I need as many as I have (kind of a dangerous thought on this site, because MOAR CHIPS!)

ok, thanks.. yeah, sounds like the HS Cleveland cash set (or any RHC / THC mixed mold set) is not for you.
I'd say that goes for a good portion of people building sets for use.
Like you said, using the $1s in a mixed set is your better option.
I am not a big fan of mixing RHC with THC (though I have). Mixing SCV and LCV is fine by me.
(I actually like the JACKs with the mixed molds. best of both worlds)

Might I suggest starting an LCV cash set.. maybe begin from the bottom with some nice hotstamp fracs ;)

Funny thing, our brains. With my Cleveland set, I made brown quarters out of the Lucky Derby $5's. They got rave reviews in pictures, here. The one time I played that cash set, a few of us at the table couldn't stand them, myself included. Kept confusing them with the $5's. Weird. I sold the whole set - didn't like anything about it, except those $1's.
(Sorry for the thread jack)

I'll be playing with the same HS setup in a few weeks (Lucky Derby brown fracs).. I'll see how it goes

Since this has turned into the Horseshoe Cleveland opinion thread

My main issue with that particular frac was seeing the hotstamp under the label, and they weren't in nice enough shape to justify milling for me.

I'm not completely set on even adding a frac to make mine into a normal cash set, but if I did I'd probably just look for some starbursts and leave them unlabeled.

...that is if I don't change my mind and send you a couple racks for these hotstamped quarters...
