Desert Heat Poker Chips (1 Viewer)

Looking to purchase Desert Heat Poker Chips, anyone on here have any they do not want, or know someone who wants to sell them? Looking for $25, $50, $100, $500, and $1,000 chips. Anyone has had any experience with these chips? pros cons? Will be appreciated.

They are not bad chips for the price, but don't expect them to feel like clay chips because they are not. The only way I can think to explain the feel is that they feel like hard rubber with a metal slug. They are heavy. Again, not bad for the price, but I would definitely get samples.

I have a set of the mint chips, I think they are made the same way, both being slugged Claymaster chips.

I like mine for the money, my biggest compliant is the flash/mold lines on the chips. Drove me nuts until I sat in the recliner watching movies for a few evenings with a pocket knife and shaved them off. Now the chips look worse, but you don't feel the mold line unless you really go looking for it.

I have heard people complain about spinners but only have a few in my set of about 500.

Looking back I would be bought Milanos or similar China Clay's or just done what I am doing now, buying used casino chips. That being said they are a huge upgrade from the dice chips I had and The Mints served me well for about 3 or 4 years. They played their last regular game a couple of weeks ago.

I ordered a sample set which should arrive in a day or two, I really love the design of them. Don't really care too much about the feeling. I have 800 monte carlo poker chips and I dont have a problem with them. They are similar in weight.

Yea I watched a review on them on youtube and thats what the main problem he had with them, is the mold lines. I dont think that will bug me too much. I was looking at Milano's but they are above my budget at the moment.

This is my experience exactly with the Claysmith Mints - although I took an SOS pad to the edges instead of a pocket knife (which worked well). I just recently replaced them with Milanos for my everyday chips.

I know the Milano's or the Majestic's are a bit more but they are so much nicer. IMO the Desert Heats are a small step up from dice chips but with a nice label.

If looking at 15c chips, I'd strongly encourage you to consider the chips made on the Spade/Sword mold (Poker Knights, Monaco Club, Showdown Club). The material is much softer and nicer to play with than any of the chips produced on the harder-plastic mold shown in the OP. They stack better, sound better, and feel better imo.

Get samples.

15c to 16c is pretty much standard pricing for both types of chips. Pretty unlikely to find them cheaper than that, unless used.

If sticking with the harder chip line(s), here is a Canadian web site that offers similar chips (different labels) with free shipping:

I have 1100 of them, but blanks. I was going to label them for a tourney set but never got around to it. Used them once or twice. I just posted the colors and denoms and all was good. Most of the guys I play with still have dice chips. They are a fine chip for the price, but hanging around here, I have become a real chip snob (thanks guys).

I agree, those chips I liked more in feel, but I liked the colors of the Claysmith 12 stripes so I went with them.

The mold lines are a PITA, but I just picked at them when they were in play.

The Monte Carlos are not Claysmith chips, though. The "Cash Club" chips are the same exact same chip as the Desert Heat with a different label.

I didn't think about steel wool, that would have much easier!
