Hi everyone,

I'm interesting to the Desert Palms Chips in order to form my first good set. I go all over the posts here & elsewhere and found many versions of chips (if I missed one and create a double-post sorry, please delete this one). I just want to be sure to recognise the CC chips from the others. So, my questions are:

#1: the CC 100$ always have 2 edge-spots (orange & yellow)? Others like Blue+White or Blue+White+Blue (Apache) are not? or is it a special version (tournament...)?
#2: the font of numbers is always square?
#3: Is there others differentiation signs?

#4: So, the chips on the top of the picture are the (only?) CC chips for Desert Palms, and others are not?
Thanks to Jhoov2412 for the picture.

the bottom version I believe are a cheap plastic version. Apart from colours you can usually tell because the edgespots are almost uniform in shape.

I’d also expect them to have an even harder feel and sharper edge than the China clay version.

For sure, chips on the bottom of the pictures are plastic, confirm by Jhoov2412

Yes, as confirmed above, bottom set is the second set produced in late 2006/ to 2007 I believe. Top set was brought to market in Dec. 2008. Both of these sets were made in China. The Chip Room owned the line. Top set is the better of the two, don't mess with the bottom set. The original set was made by BCC in late 2005. Here is a pic of clay chips.

Easiest way to tell the difference between the china clay Desert Palms and the cheaper plastic version is by label size -- cc is larger (grand), plastic is smaller (standard). The cc chips also have larger printed denominations.

Being injection-molded, both sets will have uniform spots across the same denominations.

@Icewood , wait, you are from France. I thought the French only buy expensive chips :bigbucks::p;)

Not exactly, we make believe that in order to sell better, looks the B&G, expansive for plastic! (i'm joking of course :D).

Ok thank you very much for all informations. Indeed, simple to distinguish when we know that...
