Hey everyone,

I am kind of curious to see how people end up with so many discontinued casino poker chips. Do they casinos sell them? Can I call local casinos and ask for discontinued chips? Is it like something they give out to dealers? I am really curious to know how to maybe get chips from a local casino in the future, if that isn't a pipe dream lol.

That’s a pipe dream. You can harvest live chips from some casinos that are still open. Tough to pay face value for $25’s and $100’s though. Nevada gaming commission requires closed casino chips be destroyed. Other states have ability to sell their chips.

People like Jim at @TheChipRoom bring many of the chips to the community. You can see his page in the vendor section. I am sure he has hired lawyers and negotiated a price to buy all the chips. A lot of legal hassle involved.

Harvest or obtain from companies that buy out the closed casino chips. Maybe a small card room or boat might have given some away or sell them in bulk to regulars, but that stopped probably 30+ years ago. I forget if you can still dig for some of the pioneer chips.
