Tourney Early (1980’s) poker tournament structures (levels/timing) Bob Stupak’s Vegas world especially (1 Viewer)

I've become quite enamoured with the Bob Stupak's vegas world tournament chips and purchasing a set .

I would like to properly initiate the set with a tournament in a style in which they were initially intended. I’m not an expert, but imagine structures may have been different in the beginning. I have been trying to find more info on these events with zero luck in terms of structure. Does any one know what the tournament structure/timing at an event in the 80's looked like? I've seen the few photos and snipits of information on here and google, but coming up with blanks with any detailed info..

If I had to guess, I’m imagining something slower, with starting stacks around buy-in size.

Also if there is any more info locked away in memories or hidden on the internet regarding Bob Stupak’s poker classic tournament would be much appreciated too.

I think I read somewhere that at the first couple WSOP events you got T10,000 in chips for your $10,000 buy in. It seems many of the old tournament sets had T1 chips, so I suppose that is also a clue.

The WSOP starting stack was always equal to the 10K buy in through 2007, if I recall correctly. It wasn't until 2008 that they decided to double it to 20K chips

I saw this too, and seems like a reasonable assumption to make.

Assumptions I am making so far:

Buy in sized starting stack. Assuming 10K

slow rise in blinds. 5/10, 10/20, 15/30 etc..

Level time. 40mins or more?

I doubt they were using T5 chips and 10,000 buy-ins simultaneously. Maybe 5k buy-ins with a 5/10 opening blind level.

Very possible that antes were used, too.

Figure that the events were 20 players maximum, I'd wager most were single-table.

20 blind levels at 45 minutes each is 15 hours plus breaks.

The very early WSOPs essentially invented tournaments from what I understood. The first one they would play all day and then vote for who they thought was best. Then after that they basically all bought in for 10 grand and kept playing without add ons or rebuys until someone had all the money. It was winner take all until 1978.

Im not sure if the original structure is anywhere. Might be that Doyle or Jack Binion are the only ones left from back then.
