Not Mine Ebay Azar 400 chip $375 free ship (1 Viewer)

Seem a bit overpriced but a good starter set

That leads me into a question I've been having. I've been watching this auction and was wondering if it was a good price. How do you know when chips like this are fairly priced? I'm guessing just being under $1/chip isn't good enough? I know there are factors affecting a certain chip's value (rarity, denomination, popularity, etc...), but if I'm just looking for a set of used Paulsons that I like to look at and are functional, what would be a good average price to pay?

For instance, if I wanted to start piecing a set together:

I've bought almost 2000 Aztars the last couple years. Even though Paulson chips are going up in value, the low denom Indiana Aztars are not worth around $1 each. They will come up for sale much cheaper. The $5's are super common so they are not expensive. Those primary $25's are common as well (everyone wants the secondaries or the Missouri 25's). $1's are drying up, but the Aztar chips are usually heavy casino worn, and are not in the best shape (25's are usually not much better). Basically you have to buy many racks and pick out the best ones.

I would pay $250 for this eBay set if I was hunting for them, but even then I would be a little hesitant. There are lots of other casino Paulson chips out there that are the same price (or even a little cheaper) that are nicer looking and in better shape

If you're not sure, don't be afraid to ask on here! There will be varying opinions, of course. But it's a good place to start! I don't think there is a blanket rule (like "under a buck a chip, and you're good). Some chips flooded the market post ChipRoom sale at $0.20/chip! So I'd hate to see you pay a buck a chip for those!

Those used PCA primary $1s seem to be a pretty good deal. If you like them, and you are OK with their condition...go for it!
