I know all I need to, having read that. I'm opening a factory in The 'Shire.

Good to know that your DIY chips "can maintain a professionally crafted appearance despite your customizations". I was worried that my sub-par design skills might threaten the business venture.

So, to sum up the article:
  1. Print a label.
  2. Stick it on a chip.
F-n brilliant. I mean, I expected a bad article, but this is just a waste of internet space (which may be nearly limitless, but still...).

I am curious if with 3-D printing technology improving if in 5-10 years you could create your own chips with edge spot and design part of the chip, not a label. Easy bake might not be too far off.

I've wondered the same thing myself. If you could get the weight/feel/consistency right I would think it would be easy actually.

Not there yet. Material restrictions remain the major roadblock, even with high-end 3D printers. Shape, texture, sharpness, all no problem for the most part. Weight is still a issue, as is material feel/sound and process speed. And cost.

I'd expect it to be pretty much a hum-drum process in 10 years time.
