So embarrassing, but at least I've seen the light BEFORE putting these chips in play. I have wound up with 2300 brand new, cheap (but slightly above striped dice) poker chips. They are 11.5 gram and distributed as Trademark brand. Don't even ask what I was thinking with this many (I actually have another 500 very used chips, too.) I just want out and want to buy real poker chips -- at least Milanos.

Is there a market here for them or should I just Craigslist/eBay them away? 2000+ are still in plastic, some rolls popped open during shipment. None have ever been used. Help!

$ value qty.
1 --> 600
5 --> 600
10 --> 480
25 --> 400
100 --> 120
1000 --> 100
Total --> 2300

I’m afraid you may have a hard time moving those here for the price if shipping.

Maybe spit them into two or three somewhat useable breakdowns and sell them on FB for cheap?

Hey welcome to PCF! There’s no collectors value to them if that’s what you’re asking. I would sell them on Facebook marketplace, Craigslist, etc with local pickup as shipping them will be high in comparison to what they’ll likely sell for. As for a specific valuation, I would google what they cost from online stores/vendors and cut off 10-50% depending on how quick you’d like to move them.

I think he bought them and then found out about the forum and now wants the good stuff :watching:.

There’s no shame here. We love all poker chips, they’re all our children.

I would listen to the wise advice other posters gave about putting these on FB or Craigslist, though.

I’ve heard skeet clays can get pricey... :rolleyes: I jest but am happy to see you’ve found the forum / hobby!

Local buy is your best bet. Looks like there are eBay listings for about 15/rack new. I think you can hope for 8/rack selling second hand. Post them for $180 and sell to the first guy that gives 150.

You could also probably part this into 3 sets of 600 and one of 500 and hope to get $50 a set.

It would be an interesting experiment if you were post these as an auction ad here.

Precisely. Good info, thanks for the replies. This was a gift supplemented with eBay and additional purchases. I tried returning some and was given a refund but told to keep the chips! So returning them didn't get rid of them! Just nuts. I'd actually be happy with 5 cents per chip or even $100 for all. It's even possible that all would fit in a flat rate box for about $20. I believe it'd weigh a bit less than the 70 pound maximum.

I've seen some nice Dunes and Majestics and Milanos listed here that would make me feel a whole lot better. Not sure if there's a correlation between bringing good chips to a poker night and winning, but I hope so.

I might just list it here and see what happens. A local sale would be awesome.

Your smartest move is to offer them to a charitable organization (tax deduction), private school (arithmetic tools), or a budding artist who can transform them into a modern sculpture.

And totally serious about all three. You'll be very lucky to find somebody local willing to spend even 5c/chip, which I think is over-valued.

Ship it on eBay or craigslist if you need the funds otherwise your best bet us to donate or contribute to goodwill

I think the artist is a great idea, I'd love to see what they come up with

If that's the case, throw them on eBay starting at $100 + shipping. People looking for these types of chips will see 1000 new for $149, or see the chance to get over twice as much for less money.

I think this is a bit optimistic. In a 12 x 12 x 5.5 box you could do maybe a 7x7 grid of stacks of 40 (figuring each stack requires about 1.625 sqin. That's 1960 chips, you would be just short.

The medium flat rate is 11 x 8.5 x 5.5 you could do 6 x 5 x 40 deep for 1200, do two of these.

But eBay probably your best bet, unless you want to do any of the donate options.

OK, modern sculpture I do like! If I can't sell them, I'll donate to one of my two boy's schools. Good idea. (BTW, no such thing as a tax deduction any more...)

I also like the eBay ideas. I'll be out of pocket next week, but could get these out on Saturday if a quick sale is out there. I'll post them up now here and see what happens. If not, break them up and eBay them away. Thanks for all the encouragement and sober advice.

I would say it's like the same price as shipping.
