The state has announced three licenses for casinos downstate. It’s assumed that two will go to the existing casinos in Yonkers and the Aqueduct Race Track.
That leaves one more, which is also assumed to be a brand new site in the city. There are proposals that have been submitted by various billionaires for Hudson yards, Times Square, Flushing/Citi Field and Coney Island, among other areas.
It’s a laborious process filled with RFPs, studies and lobbying galore, but it’s expected that the state will choose the third license some time next year.
And then they’ll have to actually build the thing.
Regardless it is likely a ways away until any cards would actually be in the air (and far from a guarantee that the third casino would even want to use the limited space on a poker room).
