Hi all,

I’ve been thinking of inlay ideas for this solid tourney set I’ve been building. I am heavily leaning on the idea of doing a tribute to one of my favorite movies ever, The Fifth Element.

There is a luxury spaceship/cruise line in the film, and it got me wondering about what an onboard casino might look like, and of course the chips within.

Here is a little about it on the wiki:

Fhloston Paradise was put into service in 2234 along with it's sister ship the Extravagance. It is a renown superliner that It is very expensive to stay aboard. Onboard there are many amenities such as VIP lounges, twelve swimming pools with two VIP pools on the deck, dozens of 5-star restaurants and a concert hall. Paradise is based on Planet Fhloston, a tropical ocean planet with lots of tourism. The ship is based in Port Sasrstoon and during leisure rotations lands on Fhloston's many tropical islands giving it's guests beach access. Paradise also flies into Fhloston's low orbit for stunning views of the planet from space. Fhloston Paradise also has gravity stabilizers that mimic standard gravity when in space. Ruby Rhod was a frequent visitor of the ship.

Some inspiration images plus shitty hand drawn mock-up idea:

Feedback welcome :)

^^^This^^^ with a little bit of tweaking to make it legible and properly fit a circular inlay, would be perfect.

And the potential for extras (dealer buttons, bounties, all-in chips, commemorative chips etc.) is endless here, so much material to pull from.

This movie always causes arguments in my house - I think it's awesome, my wife just shakes her head anytime it comes on lol.

Love the idea of a multi pass rectangular dealer button! MSK perhaps?

I can maybe do a select few chips in the style of a promo chip for performers at the casino (or whatever you call it). This would be for Diva Plavalaguna (and maybe Ruby Rhod). This idea may better be suited for a cash set though.

That’s the image that really got me thinking of an inlay for this idea. I am bouncing between something similar to this, and something that I’d imagine the prop masters for the film might create for such a casino; something that may have been designed in the 90’s for a movie set in the 2200’s if that makes any sense.

The set/costume/ overall aesthetic design elements of the movie are so incredible. I am wondering how to capture that in an inlay if possible.

Any ideas of what I can do with the elemental stone symbols? (Fire, water, earth, air)

Maybe red (fire), blue (water), brown (earth), and white (air) THC solids for… bounty chips? Extra money pool for collecting all 4? Would probably be tough to make work, and a bit of a stretch.

Small tourney set?
First 4 element chips - T100 / 500 / 1000 / 5000
Then the 5th element - orange 25k Lilu chip :D

I'm following with interest btw. Always loved this film and can't wait to see where you end up on the theme.

Kind of on the back burner, but still every now and then messing with mock-ups.
Need to land on a good layout and get myself a pro designer :)

These are still a-go for me. Definitely a set I want to make and keep

Oooh forgot all about this theme. Glad you are still kicking ideas around.
If you want to bounce any ideas around, or need help putting all the artwork together shoot me a PM :cool

The rolling edge of the button should say 'zOrg Industries'

You'll also need 'Big Bada BOOM'

The squiggly lines on poker chips may lose meaning with the orientation of the lines, they all might look the same.

What are you thinking for denoms?
25 - pink
1 - green
5 - yellow
20 - purple
100 - blue

The woman that sang is an actual French singer, she is amazing and the shit she had to go through for this costume is epic.

You could use one of the chips (Blue imo) as a promo chip for the concert the label would be the outer circle of 'Diva Plavala..' or the head looking down.

This feels a little more .. 8 bit-ty but I like this style or an over simplified style as well

Lots from the movie to pull from for promo, seating, bonus, all in, rebuy, etc chips haha!

This is most likely going to be a tourney set, but that may change. The colors in the OP were what I was thinking for T25-T5000 (non-traditional scheme)

A cash set would be great for the diva promo stuff! I don’t think I’ve ever seen casino tourney chips with promotional stuff on them

Bump, would also love something like this. Some fhloston chips, diva promo chips, something for each of the elements, and of course multi pass bounty chips (maybe a plaque?)
