We are playing the first night of the Rumble in the Rockies meat-up. This is a dealer's choice game, $0.25/$0.50 blinds with an $80 max buy-in. We don't know much about each other yet.

This is villain on villain action. I am safely sitting on the side munching on a slab of pizza. If one of you sees yourself and thinks I got some of the details wrong, speak up about it.

Cast of characters:

Hero is UTG playing $50. My table read on Hero is he plays a lot more hold'em than Omaha and sometimes applies hold'em hand values to Omaha hands.

There are two Villains, CO and BB

CO is playing $100. My first impression - semi loose, limited aggression which means business, tends to play ABC.

BB is playing $75. My first impression - loose-aggressive wide ranging. Too early to know if he is skilled or not, but this villain can put you to the test at any point in the hand.

The hand:

Hero is first to act holding :kh: :kc: :qc: :9s: Fold, limp or pot raise?

Limp or pot it, either are fine. Nobody is going to fold to a raise so many players to the flop im plo is common. If hero raises and is reraised, that may or may not be a welcome development depending on villain.

My hold 'em instincts say pot>limp>>>fold. So many cards to use!

Pot, repot, get it in. Hero has $50. Even if he gets it in versus aces, there's plenty of value in establishing an early table image that you're willing to get it in "light" or that you don't know what you're doing.

*** the flop ***

Hero bets $2, both villains call. I'd rate pot vs call as being close. Never folding.

$6.25 in the pot, we will call it $7. Three way action.

Flop is: :6h: :5c: :2d:

BB checks. Action on Hero, bet or check? If not betting pot, why less?

BB Lag checked, so he likely missed. CO is loose with limited aggression. He may call any bet with draws, but if you check and he checks, then you know he also missed, KK is still good.

Check.

2 options - bet or check/fold. Both are pretty close. We have a low, dry, lockdown-ish board, which is bad for everybody's range (though 789x type hands are going to the felt here.) Hero's KK is ahead of villains' overall ranges (marginally) and can expect a bet to get two folds a pretty large amount of the time. If Hero checks here as the PFR, he may as well be waving an actual white flag. Then again, when Hero is behind he's way behind, and can't take any heat whatsoever. Aware villains will know this, and may try to take this pot away whether or not they have the goods. Just giving up here can't be giving up much EV, if any.

I guess early on, it mostly depends on which image you want to project. I'd probably bet because I like action and want to keep my perceived range as wide as possible. Folding to a raise, if called blasting again on any broadway turn, check-folding the rest. If you want to reduce variance and project a tight image, just check/fold now. No need to bet full pot - this is a dry board and villains (for the most part) will either be continuing or not regardless of bet size. I'd bet $5.

I would bet or check call at least once. Weak hand on this flop, but other two are likely thin also. Fold if raised.

How many seats at the table? If it's 9 handed this can easily be a fold UTG. 8 handed depending on table would effect my decision. 7 or less then I would raise to $1.50.

On the flop against people we assume to be not proficient in PLO I would bet 3/4 pot. We can assume to have the best hand at the moment a fair amount of the time, and get value from a lot of hands that don't have massive amounts of equity vs our hands. Plan to barrel clubs 2s non ace Broadway cards as you often need to cbet flop and turn to send the message. Obviously folding to flop raise.

Against proficient PLO players that know ranges I would check fold the flop always as position just destroys our hand.
