I got my sample sets and was having a hard time deciding between the Milano's and Majestic's. After reading some great advice about having separate sets for cash and tournament games, it made my decision a lot easier...I'm getting both! I've decided to go Majestic's for the tournament set and Milano's for the cash set. The next step I need to look into is possibly getting labels printed for the $5000 in the Majestic's and .25 in the Milano's as I'm not a huge fan of those particular chips. Below is a picture of the colors I am considering, blue is my favorite color so I'm leaning towards that for both.

The next thing I need to look into is ordering labels and if the additional cost is worth it or not. Feel free to chime in on what you think of the alternate chip colors for the .25 and $5000, input always welcome!

Nice work getting samples first. Wish I took that advise.

For the majestics tourny set: that's a tough one. I would go with orange for the 5k. The majestic $10 blue is a great color though. For milanos .25...I would go with the lighter blue one. @Gear or @Apache can help with labels.

PM me if you ever need extra majestics. They are still my fav CCs but they never see play thanks to all my paulsons.

cheers

My suggestion would be to get your chips. Then decide down the road if you need to relabel. Relabeling CC chips is something I’d be hesitant to do now. Those colors might or might not work, and in stacks they’ll look different. Also, if these are your “final” set, I’d be surprised. Use em as is, then work towards a Paulson cash set (next chip room sale could be right around the corner).

That said, when I was newer, I labeled a set of nexgens. I thought it was a good idea at the time, but now realized it was not the best use of my money.

I really am a big fan of the Majestics myself. I'm considering having Apache do semi-custom labels on a Tourney set for me later this year maybe. If apache does this for you it brings the cost of the chip up by more than double; however, if they (the manufacturer) do it, you know the work is guaranteed.

While I like the brown 5000, I can see why it may not be that popular with some.

Assuming your tourneys will utilize 25 thru 5000, that leaves us with only the colors in the top row in the pic above.

As was already mentioned, the colors of the blue 10 are really awesome and would look good; however, I think the red of the 5 would be an uncommon, yet "stand-out", color for the 5000 in your tourneys. They'd pop whenever they hit the table... just my humble opinion. :D

I've relabeled CPS chips (similar to Majestics) and relabeled Majestics for a friend.

There is something far more satisfying about a chip that is "yours". Nevermind the additional security that comes along with a custom relabel. It adds an extra touch of class and a personal touch.

Sure, it costs like 30 extra cents per chip. Yes that cost can add up, depending on how big your set is, and yes, it absolutely diminishes the resale value.

But I have no intent to ever sell off my semi-customs, even though I have Paulsons. It's a part of what makes me a collector.

Wow, thanks for the great feedback already. Considering I started out this journey with a budget of $100, I'll probably hold off on the idea of getting custom labels for now. To Trihonda's point, this is my first set and I can save that money towards a nicer set down the road. I'm purchasing the Majestic's first, so that will give me some time to think about what to do with the Milano's...I really do like that lighter blue for the .25s.

A few have mentioned these chip room sales, what is the price point for these chips typically?

One vote for the orange Majestic $5k - that's definitely my favorite chip in the lineup.
One vote for the dark blue Milano 25¢ - While l love the light blue, I think the dark blue would provide a little more contrast with the white $1.

My Majestic set has Orange 5k's and it's definitely preferable IMO.

I went with Majestic Orange $5000 and I highly suggest it! The Orange really pops against the Yellow $1000 and looks great with the Tournament set. I ended up using the brown for the $20,000 chips which are rarely used but available if needed:)

FYI...be careful about buying older chips to mix in with the set. The older stock labels have a fade to them and the newer labels don't. It might not bother you but it does me...and it's better you know before rather than after. (Below the non-fade newer labels are shown)

Go with the darker blue milano as the ligther blue has a big white spot. The dollar is white so they will see each other often in pots and then you will have better looking pot when you dont have a white base and a white big spot used often together

These depend... some chips have gone for cheap prices. I think some of the horseshoe chips initially went for $..60-70/chip for the lower denoms. Some of the other earlier sets sold for under $.50/chip... more recently, some of the TCR sale chips have sold for $1/chip +.

Pricing likely depends on his costs, numbers available, condition, chip desirability, etc...
