Following Trihonda's suggestion, I'm opening up a thread for all things "fish."
Feel free to post any pics, be it fresh and/or saltwater. Also, share any tips or suggestions that you might have for other members.

I've been involved in keeping fish off and on for some time now. With just o e venture into the saltwater community, i didnt have much success. Its been mostly freshwater since. And now, my fiance' and I are venturing into the realm of cichlids. Our tank is 75g and we just received our first 5 fish (all peacocks). Included is a pic of the tank and group shot of what "hopefully" these guys will look like one day. Enjoy!

Nice! I've kept a lot of South America dwarf cichlids over the years. I am keeping my 55g pretty simple now due to the demands of family and running my own business. Here it is when it was getting more attention.

Two 55 gallons and a 75 gallon set up (plus several 20-gallon baby tanks), all dormant at the moment. Tanks are usually split between relatively aggressive African Cichlids (fascinating fish) and various South American Cichlids.

I have a 55g freshwater community fish kind of setup. Nothing crazy.

I have an embarassing biocube, I hate it. We had A bunch of corals, some pretty expensive varieties ... Then it crashed, red algae, then green algae, then red again, bubble…. Had several beautiful fish, that all died off one at a time. Got rid of all the live rock and sand, now have a sterile rocky tank with our 2 caramel Clowns (they look like 2 little killer whales) a bunch of red and blue legged crabs, nassarius snails, trocheus snails... and the ever present algae that pops up here and there.

I hate it. I'm tired of water changes, tired of getting it right only to come home and notice somethign new is taking over. I know a bigger tank would be easier to stabilize the environment, but our little 30 gal cube is too much as far as I'm concerned. It's amazing how much money you can sink into these saltwater tanks - it's been over so many years if I think of the money spent little bits at a time it has got to be many many thousands . And to see it all just disappear is so frustrating, nothing like having a daily reminder of failure sitting in the room.

I just wish I didn't love the clowns, would be so easy to sell it all. Bad pics, hard to catch them with the lighting, but there's a baby blue stripe on the border of white and black that glows in the super expensive coral lighting (oh yeah, not one coral), pretty lttle guys.

Lost my 55 gallon/20g sump established Reef to a fire : ( & never got back into it. Good combo of soft & hard corals. Was so amazing.... Please post MOAR REEF PRON HERE!!!

I WISH I could have a tank in my house, my wife refuses to let me get one (many many talks and being shot down). I grew up with a dad who loved aquariums, I remember the 55 and 35 gallon tanks my dad had in the living room as a kid. We once had piranhas in one tank, those suckers grew up to be big boys! When they died he had everything from angel fish to ghost fish, but his #1 were discus fish. Man where they gorgeous, and it was game over when one of his clients turned out to be a fish distributor. I still remember how excited he'd get unpacking the styrofoam to unveil his latest buy.

Now adays I Iive vicariously through my kid, it's my loop hole. A 5 gallon tank with a beta fish and amano shrimp. Everyone plays nice together.

Nice to see the pictures here. More, please!

I used to keep a couple of 55s with Red and Tiger Oscars, Jack Dempseys, Convicts, and Upside-Down Catfish. That hobby didn't survive the last couple of household moves and retirement, though -- just too much work! :cool

Couldn’t agree more. There must be more choppers with tanks then this.

There’s a “new” (not sure how new) trend for tank setups that require little to no cleaning/filtering/water changes. Love the idea of a self sustaining ecosystem inside your home but couldn’t say how difficult getting it to that point really is.

I opened this thread thinking it was gonna be about something different…… not about actual fish…. in water…. swimming around.

LOVE this ! What kind of fish are those?

Looks like enough plant life you could probably get away with no filter with some shrimp or snails in it (though not for everyone).
They're chili rasboras. Max size is 3/4 of an inch and they are very fun to watch

There is a filter on the back but yeah theres enough plants that it is not doing too much haha

And i have another 5 gallon with plans for shrimp;)
