OK, now that I've got your attention...
With all the GBs for plaques going on, I thought I'd share an idea that works for me when I'm traveling and think a poker game might break out.
What I do is carry a minimal number of chips in the two lower dimensions, usually ones and fives. For larger denoms, sometimes twenties, but always hundos, I carry free, ultra-light-weight, semi-custom plaques.
The catch? No catch. Just drag yourself down to the local supermarket, drug store, or big block store of your choice, where you will find a huge display of plastic gift cards, most bearing a variety of denominations, from $10 to $500.
Voila! Free plaques!
Choose the theme or color that appeals to you, or pairs nicely with your chips (that's the semi-custom part). If you like, go with an upcoming holiday theme. Suggestion: Be polite, and don't take more than half of the number of cards in each display.
Further, most of these plaques bear unique serial numbers, so you're not at risk of someone sneaking in their own plaques. You can easily spread the cards out and record all the numbers at once in a cell phone picture. And since they're disposable and easily replaceable, you can write on them or even stamp/emboss them for further security.
This past weekend's six-handed 1/2 game used 30 gorgeous StubHub! hot orange hundos and ten nice black Home Depot $500s. Sweet!
Note: Just in case there are any real dummies reading this and missing the point, on the way out of the store, DO NOT GO TO THE CASHIER AND ACTIVATE THESE CARDS!!!!!
