Ahhhhh...you summamabitch. I have you beat, though. My CPC set arrived to my permanent address yesterday, but I won't be there for a couple months. Just the worst.

Out for delivery at Midnight???
Yeah pretty typical with our depot. When things come in after hours they load them up into the trucks for the next day. This one came via Buffalo. I've noticed that when packages come from out west they usually get loaded for delivery at around 4 AM. I'm expecting the package between 3 and 5 today. Funny enough our UPS guy lives down the street, so he drives 20 miles to the depot, picks up his truck, starts delivering his own neighborhood and then drives 20 miles back every day. He starts his route around 8.

Nice big set! What games do you typically spread with those?

I'll take a shot at the colors:

$5 - Mandarin Red/Yellow
$25 - Green/DG Peach
$100 - Black/Arc Yellow
$500 - Lavender/DG Pink
$1000 - Canary/DG Green/Purple
$5000 - Gray/DG Saturn/Bright White
Non-denom - Blue/Black

This is to be my new tournament set since that's pretty much what the crew wants to play. Normally we play T1000 but we've been known to bump it to T2500 and even T5000. Since my normal group size is no more than 10-12 I bought for an optimal T1000 distribution for 20 players (for wishful thinking) plus five extra to allow for rebuys at the normal distribution. Then subscribing to the MOAR CHIPS philosophy I rounded my counts up to generally fill out full racks. That also explains the presence of the higher denominations that will almost never see play at the lower levels.

Colors are close - looks like you got your denoms a bit mixed up at the end but here's what they are:
$5 - So close - Mand Red - DG Saturn
$25 - Ding ding - we have a winner!
$100 - Ding ding - another winner!
$500 - OK, that one's kind of obvious, right?
$1000 - Damn, you're on a roll!
$5000 - Right on, right on!
Bounty - Perfect! I'm really glad I didn't go with the Dark Blue base. The regular blue and black are close enough as it is.

Holding a full set of CPCs in hand I'm now ready to get started on my cash set project since my SIL's seemed to fizzle out.

The cool thing about including 5s in a tournament set is that you can easily add on some 1s and quarters for a low limit cash set

It's funny you mention that. For security reasons I plan to get separate fives for my cash set and not intermix them. HOWEVER, a longer term goal of mine is to build a blackjack and some poker variant table. My wife, who is a take it or leave it poker player, is dying to have her girlfriends and spouses over for a Vegas night during the holiday season.

None of them play poker, nor do they know any of the people I play poker with. Depending on how many people and how we structure it, it may be necessary to combine both sets. As it stands right now the only common denomination will be five, so I'm planning to get my cash $5 with the same color and edge spot combo. The inlays and mold will obviously be different. I'll be super careful counting chips at the end of the night, but I can take the chance of a few chips walking out and not showing up at my next cash game (which are exceedingly rare as it is).

Speaking of low limit cash, if you played with a bunch of cheapskates looking to spend about $20 (min) and $50 (max) per night, what denoms would you recommend with the occasional need to have a higher limit game? Originally I was thinking .05, .25 and $1. Now I'm thinking .25, .50, $1, and some $5s. I'm not much of a low limit player but I would think that the .25/.50/$1 would be more in line with the structure. Not to mention with nickels I can give you a whole rack, worth $100 in real money and you're holding $5 in chips. Screw that if you want to play micro stakes I'll go dig through my couch and find 100 real nickels to give you. Incidentally this is also going to spawn off an MSK plaque project for $20 or $25s.

I want to click like 6 times, because I'm a strong advocate of not mixing your tourney and cash sets.

Moar chips!

Figure limit to play approximately 4x as big as NL relative to the blinds. For a $20 min $50 max buy-in limit game, you should probably do .50/1 limits (so .25/.50 blinds). If you want to allow players to get more than one buy-in per night for their $50, you could cut that in half and do .25/.50 limits (and just do .25/.25 blinds).

Starting stacks will depend on your breakdown but should be as heavy as possible on the .25s using either of the above structures.

Cool. Would you get .50s or just buy double the number of quarters?

Definitely no .50s, but max out the number of quarters you're willing to buy.

Optimally, limit games are played with only one denomination on the table. That's less possible in most home games since it requires a rack or more per player of one denom, but that just means to get as many of the workhorse chip (in this case quarters) as possible.

two months....meh :p

What's the record? I re-examined my travel schedule and it'll actually be mid-November, probably, at the earliest, so out to four months. Am I on the podium at least? Misery has to have some type of upside...

Sorry for the mini-derail! Bravo on the chips! Look great and I really enjoy the edge spot progression. May they bring you and your group many good times and big pots!

Good looking chips!

Thanks for the kind words! I'm really pleased with how they came out. The color matching on the denoms was spot on. David told me that anything close would work but I took no chances. I sent pics to the group and everyone is really anxious to play again - we just have to get past my wife's due date and allow for a couple days then it's back in action.
