Gemaco Monte Carlo? (1 Viewer)

I have these cards. Pretty much th same cards as the star design. Not as good as the supaflex

Only option for International to Canada, is $50 for three setups. Yikes. Fedex though. Would be nice to see some other options. How much was shipping to you?

I have 2 setups of these. Mine say they are superflex on the extra cards. They are really nice but a little pricey. Hard to find these cards anywhere else.

Really?! Do you own a Superflex set to compare? If the that is the case, they are the same price with shipping as the regular superflex and have a much nicer back design.

$8 shipping is far from absurd to me. How much do you think it costs to mail a set up of cards across the country?

I feel it's absurd because I just ordered several different brand set ups from other vendors via Amazon at similar price points with free shipping. Plus, they are only one state away. Two setups are almost $15 in shipping. I can ship things way heavier for way less to NY.

Also they have a $15 minimum so I'll have to add something which will cost $15 in shipping.

i will double check mine.
i own all different types of cards, especially gemaco..

Cheapest option for shipping was $8 or 50% the cost of the deck. Absurd.

Not absurd at all. It is actually a pretty good deal.

This. you cannot compare a small e-tailer to Amazon. As for amazon's free shipping, that is only after you purchase a certain amount. Some e-tailers DO offer similar deals on shipping, too. $50.00 for shipping is crazy even if it IS with FedEx. The rise in the cost of shipping from the US to Canada, even with USPS is one of the reasons I lost interest in chips, and have SEVERELY cut back my card purchases over the last couple of years.

It wasn't Amazon, but rather companies selling through Amazon using their own shipping policy. This is very common. Amazon has free shipping on purchases over $50 from them directly. Both purchases were way under $50. One was a set of bridge sized Bicycle Prestige for $8 with free shipping from some no name mom and pop shop that uses Amazon.

I'm starting to think that shipping within Canada may be higher than in the US for many things as the two people that commented are from Canada. I order a lot of things online from vendors big and small. That is very high shipping for the weight. What I have noticed is that vendors of niche items or hobby items tend to to have high shipping. They either are making a few bucks on it or don't feel necessary to absorb costs to stay competitive.

Put it this way; if I had to send the deck back to them I could get it there for under $2. They are probably 300 miles from my house.

For the hell of it I just went to a couple wesites and put a double deck of card in my basket and calulated shipping. $6.95 is the HIGHEST I found....also the shipping didn't double when I added another setup...it actually stayed the same.

Free shipping is also available at $50 or $99 purchases from many places.

I will say, that if you add a bunch of stuff to your order at Kardwell the shipping is relatively constant.

Mine do say superflex on the jokers. I'll try to put up a pic tonight. They are very nice cards imo.

It is. At the two main poker retailers, it costs about $12-$13 to ship a setup of cards. Free shipping kicks in once purchases hit a certain level ($50 - $65 pre-tax, depending on the retailer). We have a number of players in our league who drive through Toronto a few times a year, so we tend to make a pit stop on our way through, or pool our orders together to get the free shipping.

If we are shipping stuff, the costs are close to that depending on method chosen, and we also have to pay for shipping supplies (boxes, etc) on top of that. No freebies from Canada Post.

So I took a chance and ordered the cards...as well as the Gemaco Pros and Superflex. That and a new blackjack shoe. Good news is that after two card set ups the shipping stayed the same...$15 on a $100 order

my gemaco setups

personally, the monte carlo are on par with the superflex, but the superflex is a tad thicker i think.

the blue star ones are the thinnest

i reckon the monte carlo are by far the best value for dollar. for $15 a setup, cant go wrong.

Just got my order. They are indeed Superflex stock. I can't tell a difference and they are totally different than the GemPro cards. The person at Kardwell was incorrect. At $15 they are a deal and they are better looking to boot.

Superflex are a VERY nice card . . . the only Gemacos I would buy. The Sextants (blue Star, above) take a bow and hold it too easy for my tastes. I boycotted Gemacos for a few years as a result, ending when the Superflex was released. They see use in some casinos (like the Grand Vic, iirc).
