I can honestly say I never in all my time there saw a 10 or 20 in play. I think they may have been made solely for poker. Even all chips lists them as "poker room." They may have been part of their tourney set or something

It's more likely that they were used for limit games where each bet is a $10 or $20 increment.

It's possible. I played limit Holdem there but only 2/4. They ran alot of different games so there's a good chance in their heyday they were running 10/20 limit or something. Even when I started going in there for the first time just a few years ago, they would pack that room. Then they closed and when they reopened they only 4 or 5 tables going. I don't think I played poker in there after they reopened. I moved on to other buildings
 
$10s were used in the poker room. The $20 probably saw double duty in the poker room and at baccarat tables.

A quick search confirms the entire thread. gone along with my hopes for my first custom cash and tournament sets. If the (redacted) gb is dead, then I will post my interest in this GB. My vote, if I had one, would be the sunfly hybrids as well. I do like the simplicity of the Taj chips, but would like to see some mock ups in the ceramics or hybrids
I liked the (redacted) GB because it had everything, lots of denominations, and NCV chips in both 39mm and 43mm.
From reading thru this thread a couple of times it seems the intention was to start a smaller scale GB, hopefully the 43mm chips will get a chance

I'm in total agreement with this. 43mm Sun-fly hybrids, with all the denoms. If the mockups/color samples look good, there's a good chance of a very large order from me.
 
I am not a big fan of Taj, I do get the significant importance of the connection to Rounders, which is the most epic poker movie ever made, as well as a significant contributor to the poker boom, but otherwise the chips, the designs, colors, etc. are not very special.

On the other hand, last year's nameless GB was very special: special and unusual colors, designs and patterns, combined with a very large set of available denoms, and blanks. Running such a large group buy is difficult, but I think this is a dedicated enough community to be able to find resources to run them even once a year.

So, not trying to derail this thread. Maybe I will start a new one soon. But I think we should start soliciting ideas about the potential for running one large and very special group buy annually. Obviously members will continue to run various other smaller GBs as well. Time to start thinking about 2-3 amazing chip sets for the next few GBs (y) :thumbsup:

Pretty much this.. I do think sets need to have higher denoms to become useful for both cash and tournaments (and nosebleed cash games too!) :eek::p
 
Went on vacation for a couple of weeks and found out the <redacted> group buy was dead :mad::eek::eek:
so I'm interested in this as well as a substitute.... looking forward to final colors and inlay decision

Not really interested in CCs

We are most likely going with SF hybrids. I'm just waiting for them to get back to my email I sent. I've heard from 3 other hybrid vendors but the prices are a bit steep. I'm hoping SF is willing to do this at almost the same price as said disappeared GB

Rounders-affiliated. Hence my opposition to using a Trump Marina $5000.

Still likely out (I wasn't in on the Bw GB either), but these could be nice chips for those wanting a tribute to an AC casino.

I think we can leave politics out of it and say that that chip was ugly when it first came out...long before 45 was even a thought.

That being said, I have been fond of this chip below since I first saw it on All Chips

As far as copyright issues could the artwork resemble the actual tajmahal? I actually think the casinos logo is weak.
 
No word from SunFly on pricing yet? Or are we calling all "tribute" GBs dead at this point?

Really needing about 1,200 SF hybrids now...:mad:

Since the subject kinda came up. What is the minimum for a SunFly Order? I really want to get some chips from them.
 
You guys are fucking nuts, I couldn't name Trump's wives like I couldn't name the Kardashians, I've got way more important shit to do. :D I come here for the chipes, and to that I say make the group buy happen just so I can get another sample set. I mean come on, it's the fucking Taj!!! :cool:
