Most of us are not singles collectors here… The site is more focused on buying/creating playable sets. Still you may get some helpful replies.

My guess is that most of them are not hugely valuable but there might be 1-2 relative rarities which singles collectors covet. Not sure if you are better off selling them as one lot or splitting them up.

I think if you went to a chip collector show and went to their $3 buckets and grabbed a couple of handfuls it would be very similar to what you have.

Maybe a buck each, on average? Somewhat illiquid though - perhaps you could list them all for $3 each and over several years get paid. Any way you do it - these isn't a lot of money to be made considering the work needed to get it.

I am not a single collector. There might be a hidden gem there. But there also could be some drug store junk souvenir chips.

I think these might be better left as a family treasure. -=- DrStrange

I don't see anything particularly exciting in that collection.

Hold on to them and think of your grandfather any time you see them. Maybe use it as a base to start and grow your own collection, adding chips you like.

This^^^^

Sold as singles maybe $450-$500, sold as a single group you'll get half that or less. If you don't need the money atm then as others suggested hold onto them and see if any of them grow on you. It's not a big collection but there's enough that your grandpa put time and effort into collecting them.

Welcome to PCF. Looking up past sales on eBay or worthpoint for each one is the best way to get an idea of value. Also, condition matters. For instance you have a Mint $1, one in mint condition will fetch a lot more than one that is a bike tire and does not stand on edge. Hard to tell what condition most of yours are in.

Did we ever get to see the rare one of a kind sets that came from this?
Not as far as I know. I spoke with him specifically about the Gulfports. I’m not sure if he told me that other PCFers have seen them, or if some other PCFer had seen them. But suffice it to say I’ve never seen them.

Looks like someone took my advice and asked the experts at PCF.

The same story here as on the FB group. Maybe get $100 as a lot but worth way more to you and your family in a nice couple of frames, on the wall in your man cave.

This is a really good idea. I too didn't see anything that was a diamond in the rough, maybe frame your favorites in a frame from Etsy or eBay and put it on the wall to remember your Gpa with a smile and think "What a crazy old guy to collect such a thing." ;)
