Somebody was asking about these chips a few months ago. Hard to say whether they are plastic or ceramic, but priced right at $25 for 200 chips with case and free shipping. Could be used for either tourney or cash (or compliment your Matsui cash plaques).

Breakdown is 50 x $1, 50 x $5, 30 x $20, 30 x $100, 25 x $500, 15 x $1000. Multiple sets available.

Don't think they are ceramic. Must be a typo. Less than gram?

"Each chip weighs approximately 0.23 grams and has a 39mm diameter"

Someone should make a ceramic version. ;) I'd get a set.

Add a gray or silver quarter to the set?

These would work well as Monopoly money. The breakdown is not all that different than what is included in the game out of the box (30 of each denom minus the $1000).

I thought PGI made these at some point......I remember a sale thread of on old blue a couple of years ago by them. don't remember any takers though

Amazon description says they're 4 grams each. In other words, they're official casino weight.

Sometime in the past year or so the self-claimed creator of these chips came on to the blue wall to advertise both the Greenbacks and a set of very similar fishing chips. He didn't pay for advertising rights, though, and the thread mysteriously vanished.

Glad they skipped the $50.

Improvements:

Made by GOCC
Add a grey or black 25c chip
Add an orange or brown 5k chip (still realistic)

I would definitely get a set.

As I like money, I kinda have a soft spot for this set. I often wonder about the psyche of this, as the idea of turning money into chips is to make you not think of it as money as you are betting. Would making the chips look like money make you less likely to bet?

Hmmmmmmm.

On 2nd thought, maybe a black $100 and blue quarter. :sneaky: (I can't help it!)

You want to use chips as quality components of board games....

FYP. As a board game afficionado, I've thought many times about how ceramics could easily be implemented into games. Some have already generic counters with them. I'd use them in a game like Wits & Wagers where plastic chips are already involved, Heroclix as status indicators, or other games involving currency or other counters. Sometimes they're not practical for space reasons, but many times they're vastly superior to stock components.

I got in touch with the owner of the company. He is sending me out some samples from all their different sets to review. When I'm done, I will put them up as a giveaway prize.
