Been lurking around here for a while and thought I'd introduce myself.
I'm a poker fan. Play in a monthly neighborhood NLHE tourney and the occasional cash game ( $0.25/$0.50 or $1/$2 ), but the guys I play with are heathens and only have (eek!) dice chips.
Years ago I decided I wanted a nice poker chip set and instantly fell in love with the Paulson's (who wouldn't?) and bought some sample sets ( TopHat and Cane, Private Card Room, National and James Bond? ), but could never pull the trigger and actually buy a set, primarily because of the cost. And now that they are no longer in production, color me disappointed.
Well now I have the bug again and am in the hunt for a set ( cash or tourney or both ). Currently I have purchased 15+ sample sets, trying to decide what I want. I run the gambit from the cheaper ( Poker Knights / NextGen / Desert Heat ) to ceramics ( Nile Club / Nevada Jack / Scroll ) to nicer clay ( Milano / Majestic / Pharaoh ) to totally custom from CPC ( have already started to design a set, but don't have a logo/theme yet ) . Or maybe some hybrid of relabeling a cheaper set with custom labels from Gear. Of course there is always the option to buy a used casino set, but I'm not sure I want to go that route.
Let's just say I have no idea what I'm going to do. So I'll continue to read up here and ask questions. There is a wealth of knowledge here. Glad I found this place.
