So I had a couple of empress $25 that I oiled and messed them up so I figured why not just throw them in how I hand clean chips and see what happens to the inlays see if the oil would come out

I usually use Arm and Hammer Laundry Detergent with water soak then I hand clean with a tooth brush

I usually use a plastic bowl and do like 24-28oz of detergent to 8-12oz of water somewhere around there

This time I used Xtra w Oxi Clean

This is what they turned out like crazy never seen anything like this gonna oil them again and hope they go back to normal color

I been warned and read reports to never use oxiclean except on white chips so i am not surprised at the results

It will be like bleaching a coloured shirt and not expecting any colour changes/ fading
I have cleaned multiple other chips the same way and nothing ever happened maybe its the chip since its a older THC chip or something

I just cleaned 3 diff RHC chips the same way in the same solution and no color changing all that happens is they get alil chalky and you just oil them lightly and they are all good to go

U are free to “clean” your chips with OxiClean but as a warning to other users who might get mislead.

It is highly not recommended to wash with OxiClean, use TSP / Dawn instead

again its arm and hammer with oxi and Xtra with Oxi its not like I am using straight Oxi these are the only chips it has happened too glad I only did 5 of them

maybe I will just start using Dawn

anyone who uses Dawn what ratio do you use with water to soak the chips before hand cleaning 50/50 or ?

I got 2 US but I have never used them and prob never I am stupid I bought a 6l and a 15l couple years back but never used them

24-28 oz detergent to 8-12 oz of water may also have something to do with this. That’s almost like soaking chips in pure laundry detergent!
sometimes I will do like 2 3rds detergent so like 24oz of detergent and 12oz of water maybe I should do a 50/50 or just go to dawn or a cheap dish soap

Some of the first advice I ever read about chip cleaning was to never use detergents. I thought that was commonly known advice.

I have only cleaned newer RHCs and nothing has ever happened I have had nice results with that just chips get alil dried out then u oil lightly and they are nice

I haven't cleaned many chips

so looks like soak them in dawn plus water ? is the better route to go then arm and hammer detergent

Do a few more and relabel them as a show ‘em chip??? I actually like the color and it could be a fun implementation for an otherwise ruined chip

Interested in 10 blue Empress $25s

To your question: you’re using way too much cleaning solution. You only need 1-2 squirts of Dawn per gallon of warm water. Even 50/50 sounds crazy to me.
Yeah I forgot who I got the cleaning tip from on here they said they used 65-75% detergent and 25-35% water n its always worked great for me again these are the only chips they ever changed color

Dawn would prob be alil different I will have to try some diff methods

So I oiled the color changed chip today and it looks like this

So we got in order from left to right

Color Changed Chip, OG Color and Oiled Color Changed Chip

So yes @LeLe you are correct doesnt look like they are ever returning to normal color ever again LOL

Looks like Indian Blue's brother

Yeah I only ever use Dawn or Simple Green depending on method.

Some times to take the cleaning up a notch after I've tried the first too methods I'll use a Magic Eraser
