Not Mine Has anyone tried these Royal Times chips? (1 Viewer)

I have some of these. I bought samples because I was curious. You can get them from Discount Poker supply. It's JP Commerce's website. If you want some i'd be happy to send you some to handle. This goes for anyone. THEY SUCK though. So be warned. The blue is so over saturated that you can hardly see the edge spots which are black. I'd give a solid 4/10. The coolest thing about them is they have been lathed. But the composition of the chip is so brittle that the flea bite and chip super easy. Some chips also don't have a great mixture meaning some chips have swirl caused by poor mixing.

Thanks, great review. I was thinking a set of these for in the car emergency set to bring around town. But it sounds like they are too fragile to handle that. Maybe I stick with my mixed Chipco casino set... just a little faded tho.

Nobody seems to have actually handled these chips, but they were briefly discussed in May 2015 here:

Material is likely to be the same hard plastic as the 9.5g plastic injection-molded Dunes/Desert Palms chips (not the china clay versions).

This is exactly correct. I just got a roll of 25 of these chips (the whites $1's). It's like BG said they are not China clays as commonly accepted. I used pliers to break one and they are plastic. They are much better than the Desert Palms pure clay (plastic) chips. I like the feel of these because of the crosshatching and they stack much better than the aforementioned chips. I don't consider these chips fragile. If I were to go for these at all, they'd have to come in cheaper than the current 16¢/chip price to be competitive with the available competition.

What would you consider their competition at the pricepoint?

In this range, I'm looking at really low priced chips. For one that I've actually used, I'd check out the "two stripe twist" chips (also plastic) at a price even lower than these.
I forgot to mention the Roman Times have very square edges, which I liked.
