I have been collecting and restoring live Pink Floyd recordings for about 20 years now, it's been my main hobby. I've also audio recorded a handful of shows myself, of all different bands. Curious to see if anybody here has recorded any that they've attended, specifically any Pink Floyd or solos recordings (David Gilmour/ Roger Waters) and if you'd be willing to share your recording(s). Here's a list of bands I've recorded and am willing to share any of it. Some of the recordings are incomplete or rough, but some are excellent once I got mics and a real recorder. I did the best I could with what I had at the time. Let me know, thanks!

Love yo ass. Wish I could say I have. I nearly started back in the 90's. But high quality bootlegs on Maxell XL II's were so easy to get. I wish I had gotten into this, and become a "taper"!! Rad thread idea, hope peeps have done this and can share!

I'll start off by saying that the performance was great and I enjoyed the show very much.
However, the day started off kinda shitty right off the bat. The band was apparently held
up on the Queenston/Lewiston bridge for something like 5 hours, this is what was relayed to
me anyway. So, the band arrived late. Doors were supposed to open up between 6:30-6:45,
which they did. We got all the way up to the lawn picked a spot and then the band manager
told us we had to go all the way back to the gate cause they weren't suuposed to let us in
yet. So, then we waited till almost 7:30 to re-enter... so stupid. The show started and
everything sounded great until the right stack pointed out twords the lawn decided to take
a shit, and many more shits after that which was completely and utterly unacceptable!!!

In this recording I, and maybe you can hear the difference when the stack goes out but I did
nothing with the sound to compensate for it. It was a bit windy and my recording surely
reflects that in some parts which is admittedly a annoying but what the hell can I do
about it? Overall I think the recording came out fairly well, flaws and all.

This concert was recorded from the lawn and came out fairly nice. The Allman Brothers set
is not totally complete for reasons beyond my control but the Tom Petty set is complete.
Very good show and the place was packed and the crowd is not too bad. You can probably hear
more of me and my cousin and others I was with more than anyone else but it's not too
distracting. Get a few beers in you and sometimes you forget your recording ;-) Hope you
like this.

Pretty sure I ended up a little drunk and make some guest appearances on the Petty/Allmans show lol
 
The biggest regret I have is not being able to record Steely Dan at Motor City Casino in Detroit in 2009. Walkthrough metal detectors and wands. I pussed out and took my rig back to the car.

Yeah, the Maxell's are where it's at for good tape stock. All the best Floyd tapes have been preserved on them. Of course a great tape deck helps too :D
 
So cool! I love Pink Floyd, saw them once at the old Veterans Stadium in Philly, also saw Roger Waters do the Wall show at Citizens Bank Park. Recently I watched the making of Dark Side of the Moon documentary, it was great.

There is an app called Relisten, they have hundreds of live shows on it. Most are jam bands and I didn’t see Pink Floyd listed. I did see a cover band called Pink Talking Fish, which plays Floyd, Talking Heads, and Phish. I have never taped a show but I love live shows.
 
I have two concerts recorded during Miles Davies visit in Warsaw.
Both were recorded and relised by Polish Jazz Association. Older was printed in like 500 copies, the other 800. My friend bought both vinyls in mint condition. They were digitalized and remastered, however older one originally wery poorly recorded.

I wish. This was The Dead show at HSBC Arena in 2009, Haynes and Trucks were playing with them if I'm not mistaken. It's not a very good recording because my seats were shit.

What year did you see Floyd, I might have that show if you want a copy. I'm mainly looking for pre-1981 Floyd but am open to anything.

I have heard of that cover band, all good hands they cover :D
 
I've recorded a few--Air (french band) mostly, and a smattering of Stereolab, DJ Shadow, and Kid Koala. Quality is mediocre for most. One is pretty good.

I have a few pre-81 Floyd shows in my collection but probably nothing new to you. (1975-04-21 California Soundboard, 1969-05-02 Careful with these Tracks, 1971-10-17 From Oblivion, 1970-11-21 Switzerland, 1970-07-16 London, 1971-09-30 London)

Just kidding! Very interesting thread.
I’ve never recorded anything but I was at a recorded show for my 30th birthday in Las Vegas.
Of course it was a Buffet concert.
We had no idea it was being recorded and was the worst Buffett concert I’ve ever been to. I’ve been to around 10 or so.
The sound was off I guess because they were recording it. The CD sounds great though and apparently it was a great show after all lol

Now your talking! Unfortunately I haven't heard of any of those acts you mention but that's still awesome!

Couple things about your Floyd shows, which are all excellent. The latter two are recording made by the BBC, excellent stuff. Several months ago now the original taper of California Soundboard finally released a fresh transfer of full tapes after all these years and the quality is outstanding, and it's finally complete after 45 years :) Sand Diego 1971 is my all time favorite Floyd recording, very interesting story behind those tapes. Care with that Axe and Fat Old Sun are the best.

If you ever want upgrades to all of those, let me know :D
 
Great thread! I never recorded myself, but was a major US node in a distribution tree for live Jethro Tull recordings way back in the earliest days of the Internet. Wish I had kept those CDs.

If you ever sell CD/DVDs of your recordings of Elvis Costello, Mark Knopfler, or Steven Wright, please let me know!

Interesting that the sound was so bad. Sounds like it was probably a soundboard recording, but the room sound really shouldn't have suffered.
 
i have never recorded myself, but i love seeing taper sections at shows, and appreciate what you all do.

I would never sell any of my recordings, it's not in the spirit of sharing and trading music IMO. You can have them all for free. I must warn you, the Steven Wright recording is distant and hissy, because it was made with a cheap ass handheld audio recorder and the internal mic. I did record Roger Waters with the same recorder back in 99 and it came out great, but I was in the first few rows. Anyway, if you can play FLAC files or know anything about making and burning CD's, you can convert the FLAC's to WAV and burn away.

The Elvis Costello show was the opener to The Police recording I also made. Mark Knopfler recording is a little distant, but nice. Let me know if you want some links :)
 
Going to see Genesis tonight here in Buffalo. Sadly, I am not going to be recording the show this evening. If anybody out there is going and recording, please get a hold of me, and enjoy the show :D

Perhaps it was a few years later, then. I was out on the lawn and the power went out due to a storm. Backup generators kicked in and Petty said something like “We’ll be right back with this good ol fashioned rock show!”

That is certainly possible. If that happened some years later I don't believe I attended that show. I miss those days, the concerts were killer and you could still bring your own chairs in for the lawn :rolleyes: , fun times all around.
