Hello fellow poker players! (2 Viewers)

Welcome. Lots of members from the Bay Area here.

Thank you! I'm fairly new here to the Bay Area (migrated from Michigan)... do you have any suggestions on poker rooms in the area? I've only played once since being here and it was at Graton's

Welcome friend... Any plans for your first set?

Thank you... I have a set already that I've bought back in 2005ish (Modern Clay Chips). I was wanting to expand the chip count but found out that they've stopped producing them. So my plan is to see if I can find it on here and/or survey what's out there and buy a bigger set. Pretty open.

It is not a question of "if"....

It is what will suit your fancy?

My suggestion...get a few samples. Throw some chips around. Try some China clay too...for good measure. Then try some ceramics. They are severely underrated I feel.

You should see my first few posts when I joined....somewhere I said and I quote "I can't afford Paulsons". Now I have like 1000 already. Total sickness!! Brutal even!

Samples first. Then have at the buffet here. You can get almost anything you want with enough money time and temperance.

Cheers!

I believe what he is saying is that he owns BCC modern clay chips, which is actually a chip that was produced, similar to the protege chips but not shaped inlays... Very nice chips and they have been for sale, it's kind of frowned upon but look at the older listings and see if you can find chips that never sold, sometimes the seller still has them and still willing to let them go. Never hurts to ask!!

They look like this @Jeevansluck ... In my opinion similar to a Paulson Palais Des Congress... Nice chips indeed

Yes...I understand now.

I recall seeing sales ads for these chips here and there.

Those are very nice looking chips. They remind me of CPCs somehow...

Welcome, @Yellowfin! What part of Michigan did you leave? The Bay area is a great place to land. I've always enjoyed visits there.

That's frowned upon? I thought it was SOP.

Well maybe not frowned upon... You have been around much longer... Shall we say maybe less tasteful to contact people after adds are closed from further comments? I have found the majority of my chips that way... I always say it doesn't hurt to ask, and if they don't respond then obviously they don't want to be bothered about older listings. If that makes better sense @WedgeRock

Thanks! Yea these are the chips I currently own.... Back when I bought it we had a smaller game that kept growing. My calculations were from a 5/10, 10/20, 15/30, 25/50, etc.. blinds structure with a starting stack of 1500 to keep the games lasting about 2-2.5 hours in our weekly games. Also included in this set were just enough to have a small cash game for all the players that got knocked out.

Now fast forward 14 years later, I still love this set and to add on especially $25, $100, $500 so when I do have games out here in Cali.... I would have enough to do the typical $25/$50 blinds structure with $5000ish starting stacks and remove the $5 chips from tournament (which can be used for $.05 for micro cash games).

Ypsilanti... just outside of Ann Arbor. Yea the weather is nice here in the Bay Area. Haven't had to experience the crazy weathers Michigan can have where it can be 65 degrees and sunny in the early afternoon to snowing by late afternoon!

What part are you from in Michigan?

The chips you desire are around... Like I said check the old adds... Obviously once you're off the waiting list you can post a WTB... Basically a wanted add... Someone some where should be able to help... Just keep in mind like many of us in purchasing extinct chips you may have to purchase an entire set to get what you're looking for... And then possibly return the others back for sale for others to enjoy!! Best of luck and let me know if you need any help... Still new myself but I can try!!

That's good to know! Yea hopefully I can cross paths with someone that would part with theirs as soon as I'm able to make a WTB post. I appreciate the advice and help!
