Just wanted to post a quick intro and a pic or two. My name is Frank and I'm just getting back into home poker after being out of the loop for about 7 or 8 years. On the personal side, I'm married (3rd times the charm), have 2 grown boys (1 married with 2 grandkids) and a step-daughter who just started college. Just moved into a new home with a big basement that I plan on turning into a nice entertainment area. Poker parties to come.

My current chip set is a 1000 piece Nexgen 8000 series tournament set with custom labels I designed myself. I'm now looking at purchasing a cash game set for 10-20 people. Although I'd love to get a set of CPCs or Keywest type chips, that's just not in the budget. I can probably afford about $300 max. I'm currently considering getting a set of the Nexgen Pros and relabeling them. Although I don't really like the slickness of them I do like the straight sides, as compared to the beveled sides of China clays, and the way they stack. I am open to suggestions though.

Following is a pic of me and my current chip set. Thanks for listening and hope to chat with some of you in the future.

Welcome! I work in Brighton and live locally. There are lots of home games around here. I wish I had more time to play but we just had a little one and he keeps us pretty busy. I hope to see you around!

Wow!! Didn't know there were so many folks from my area. Thank you for the welcome. Would love to play with you all some time. :)

Hello and welcome!

$300 is a hard budget if you want a cash game for up to 20 players, at least for used casino clays. If you want something customizable, check out @ABC Gifts and Awards in the vendor links and see if they have any PGI 8v Compression Clays left over from their Black Friday sale (10c each for base chip, then whatever you spend for labels).

I can do about 500 fair condition used Paulson solid colour chips for about $300 (excluding shipping) available in a variety of colours, but they are non-denominated and may take some work to get a custom sticker on, but it's possible. Feel free to send me a private message if this scenario is of any interest to you.

This is out-of-context thread, worthy, but I'll give you a free pass the first time.

Welcome, Frank. Nexgens are solid chips, well worth the price you paid, IMO. If/when you're ready to step up, there are lots of options. If you find your way to one of our games, you'll get a chance to test drive lots of different chips.

We play a fairly regular cash game where you'll find myself, @mike32, @detroitdad, @Sprouty, @Azcat, @Marc Hedrick, @ThePunk, @Boother36 and a handful of guys that aren't on the site. And there's a monthly tournament (usually followed by a cash game) if that's more your thing.

Welcome to the site, hope to see you at the table soon.

Welcome! Sounds like the MI contingent has already surfaced and made themselves known. Can't go wrong with that bunch.

Look forward to seeing you at a chip meetup down the road. :)

Good Morning Frank and Happy New Year.

Welcome to the site. Its crazy fun here, but expensive as hell. Especially if you get the chip addiction bug. Southeastern MI has a great showing on the forum. A lot of us get together to play regularly. There is a home game probably three out of four weekends.

I'm hosting on JAN 18th, then again on FEB 9th (My 50th birthday game).

I also have two grandkids. 3 and 4 year old boys. Busy as shit, but wow, what a lot of fun they are.

I mostly host cash games. Either a fixed rotation involving NLHE and a few Pot Limit Omaha style games or dealers choice (which is my preferred format). Our stakes run between .25/.50 and 1/1 with a 100 max buy in. Nothing too crazy.

Here is my chip collection. I believe it is mostly accurate. The only thing that I don't have is the Paulson Cancun fives. Most of the chips I've gotten at a decent price. Yes, I know, "decent" is relative lol.

If you search out sunsets you will see my most prized custom set. I have a second custom set as well. Search out "Bourbons".

The off topic forum is a blast and covers about everything. The poker chip forum is where its happening imo.

Good morning Bill. Thanks for the great info. I work most Friday nights but might be interested in playing on Saturday, Feb 9th. My play is limited to Holdem' but I'm willing to learn some new games. Keep me informed and hopefully I can make it out to meet and play with the "Michigan contingent" sometime soon.

A round or two of "Hold'em" might get called. More likely it would be triple hold'em, or SOHE (6 cards, split them into a Hold'em and PLO hand). Dealers choice nights can get crazy. Most of the games are variants of Omaha. We do play a few STUD variants but not many.

This is a great thread to browse. Home game action shots. You'll get to see a lot of different chips in play.
