Greetings from the Big Easy!

I’m new to chip collecting and looking to upgrade my Dice chip set. I’ve greatly enjoyed lurking and planning my next set of chips. Thank you for all the knowledge and advice that you share here!

I believe I’ve decided on a Majestic cash set (5c/10c, 500-700 chips) but I’ve been debating going straight to Paulsons (if I can find a decent set). I’m planning to keep an eye on the classifieds section here and then decide in the next few weeks (I’m not very patient!).

Have a great Saturday everyone!

Hello and welcome!

There are Paulsons and then there are Paulsons. Be aware of what you are buying.
Good advice.

The fact I don’t even know what you mean tells me I should probably go with the Majestics and take my time learning more about Paulsons.

Thanks! I went to Samford >20 years ago but I’m a raging LSU fan so I gotta send you a friendly “Tiger bait!” Lol

give me a heads up if you go .... hard rock biloxi has a special edition year of the dragon 5 dollar chip id love to get a couple

If you think there is even the tiniest chance that you're going to want Paulsons, or really any real compressed clay chip, then skip the majestics. Nice clay chips, even really inexpensive ones, will generally sell for around what you pay for them. (unless you don't do your research, and you over pay) But unless you buy china clays used at around half the retail price, you're going to lose a lot, and might not even be able to sell cheap. At least not quickly.

Watch the classifieds. And post a Wanted classified yourself. You'll get a bunch of us helping you look for cool stuff at good prices. Most of us remember what it was like when we were new to chipping, and we really enjoy helping out new chippers. I love finding something for sale and thinking "I wish I dah been smart enough to buy something like this when I was just starting out." I have so much crap now that I thought I wanted from back when I didn't have a clue what I was going to want... If that makes any sense! :ROFLMAO:

Oh, and WELCOME TO PCF!

Thank you for that advice!

As an update, I ended up impulse-buying a large order of Rounders CSQ chips from CPC (I think I ended up with 1300 when it was all said and done). I really love them and I think I’ll always keep them in my possession, but it’s only increased my desire to collect (I should’ve seen that coming).

I’m watching Jim’s auctions/sales of the Harrahs New Orleans chips which I’d love to add as I live in New Orleans, but if I don’t purchase those I will definitely do as you say and get advice from the forum on collecting a special set over time.

Thanks again!

Well Jee-eeez! If you had that kind of budget, why were you even considering Majestics??? :ROFLMAO:

You made it to 30. You're welcome!
