Hello all! I've discovered this forum around the summer of 2021, when I first hosted a tournament with friends with a newly bought cheap 300-piece dice set. After watching some videos of Chris Manzoni, I found this forum and I've been following it ever since, mainly the poker room sections Home Game General and Tournaments and Cash Games. I've learned a lot about hosting from you all, thanks!
Back then, the stakes were not monetary that first time, instead we played for shots. It was a one-time thing, but a year later I decided to host again since we had a lot of fun. We changed to microstakes, as it made the game more serious when the decision process of “I'll call because a rebuy only costs a shot anyway” was no longer valid reasoning. Because it became a more regular event, I decided to start upgrading the cards, adding a speed cloth to the dinner table, and expanding the chip set.
Fast-forward to the present, we have a monthly game with 6 to 10 players attending each night, varying mostly between €5 single reentry tournaments, €0.01/€0.02 cash games, and €0.10/€0.20 limit mixed games. We are currently in our second season of doing a league. I now have a poker table that unscrews to three pieces for convenient storage. The chip set currently consists of 980 dice chips, which doubles as a T1-base tourney set and a €0.01 base cash set. A tight budget is the only thing withholding me from further improvements, but I won't make any promises about how long that will last.
Anyway, since I was getting annoyed having to scroll down the posts to see which ones were new, I decided to finally create an account to keep track of unread posts for me. And who knows, I might even start contributing…
