I've been playing poker with friends for couple years now, just $.5/1 cash games. I am looking for my first set of poker chips and after ton of youtube videos and what not, I ended up here. Looks like a good resource. :)
I should have samples of Milanos and Scrolls here soon from apachepoker. I've been eyeing Nevada jacks as well, but let's see. Having never played in Casinos, I really have no idea how good poker chips can be I suppose.
I am based out of Utah and not a serious player by any means. I like to spend time outdoors(flyfishing, camping) with my 2 dogs but in winter spend a lot more weekends playing poker. I have been floating this idea of building a poker table top as well, with my very limited woodworking skillset and tools, but remains to be seen I will follow through with it. I write software to make money and support all these hobbies. :D

Welcome. You're in the right place. Your background sounds similar to mine (except I have only 1.5 dogs)

Get samples before you buy

Glad you found us. Welcome!

welcome! It's a great resource. I wish I had found PCF before my less educated eBay buying spree. A lot of friendly and well versed chip lovers here so I think you found the path to your perfect set. Best of luck!!!

Welcome!
There's a good CO contingent here with the one UT outlier by the name of @Lars so maybe you'll connect.

Welcome. It all started with a upgrade to lower end chips and a home built poker table. As you will read again and again this is a great hobby with great people but can become a expensive sickness. Enjoy the journey. You also might want to check out group buy area. They is a buy forming for the Boardwalk chips. They are a great chip for the price. By far better than Milanos or Scrolls.

Welcome! as you can see from the time of this post, some of us simply don't sleep. This is good. In the event you ever need to know about chips in the middle of the night, you came to the right place!

thanks for the welcome everyone. It was a decent weekend, made about $150 playing .5/1 cash games and sample sets of Milanos and Scrolls arrived. Can't say I am fan of the Scrolls, couple of the were already chipped/nicked on sides and white spots were showing. Milanos look classy but feel similar to diced chips I have always played with.

Welcome! You will slowly sometimes faster, see your funds switching from one hobby or interest to CHIPS!

If you are anywhere near @Lars you need to go see his chips and from what I hear "The Shed" is the place to be!

Welcome! This place is not only great resource for chips, but lots of great info and ideas on tables, too. Will be of tremendous value when/if you end up building one of your own (which is great idea). I certainly would have done a few things differently with purchases I made pre-PCF. So much I didn't know!

So went with pyramids casino china clays for my first chipset purchase. Quality control wise they are definitely compared to Milanos, but they feel less plasticky than Milanos and cheaper too. Came to about 22 cents/chip without shipping/handling.
