what is your budget, this site is "free" but buying chips down the rabbit hole gets very expensive.
check the classified and view the board for what looks interesting. Then see your mortgage broker

I’m looking around and i see what you mean. At some point, i feel like it would be cheaper to just buy chips straight from casinos and take them home.

Sets that have been out for a while tend to loose some of the fad appeal. That said casino chips tend to go for at least $1+ depending on denom for the most part. Many have found good options with the cards mold custom chips at around .39-.49/chips

Welcome! I'd say figure out your budget then go from there. a good "beginner" set might be some ceramics or china clays. You can get some card mold ceramics for relatively cheap if you wait for a group buy. Check out https://www.apachepokerchips.com/ and https://brpropoker.com/ . I just recently got a set of DDLM and so far I and all of the other players love them.
