I'm building a limit set...workhorse chip will be Lucky Derby 1's. Currently planning to use El Dorado fracs for SB/Ante/Bring-in and undecided/not yet determined for the "big chip" yet. I'm currently eyeing Casino Royale San Bruno 8v grey/blue non-denoms.

The issue is, I'm a Left-Brained Engineer without a creative bone in my body. I would love to work with a designer to get a custom set made at some point, probably something Hollywood themed (maybe Hollywood Bowler (hat) as a play on TH&C, Hollywood Card Room, etc.) or Quail Club (I live on Quail street, and I like the sound of the name). That's about as far as my design idea goes so far.

I'm not tied to something custom for this limit set though...so I'd like to solicit ideas. I want the label to be dark/black background for this set, as I think the LD $1 looks really good with a black/dark label applied. I also want it to be non-denominated, but that should be easily accomplished with most designs.

Please post up any ideas, inspirations that you think might fit the bill. These could be closed casinos that I could straight copy or semi-customize, custom designs, whatever...I'm open to all at this point. Post up your favorite black/dark inlays/labels!

I scanned through some the forum and especially the proofs thread to find some inspiration, and here are some of my favorites to give you an idea of what I like:
(please let me know if any of these photos belong to you and you would like me to remove them)

I really like the quail idea. It is personal, unique, and a cool sounding word. Scrolling through the photos I immediately was drawn to the top hat cafe dealer art. Envisioned a quail resting on something similar to how the hat is positioned.

Anything from your past, current home / town, or other relevant feel good thing that a quail could perch on? Tree house, vintage car, etc?

Hope this helps. I am excited to see what comes out of this project!

I do like the sound of "Quail Club" and it is somewhat personal and unique I think. I LOVE @Burke's Top Hat Cafe design, it s definitely an inspiration.

Unfortunately I haven't really seen a quail picture or silhouette that I like...it's just not a very attractive bird, haha. I was more considering using "Quail Club" in a cool font as a part of the design. I found this crest which is pretty cool too.

Quail's Nest sounds pretty good to me. Quail Street Cardroom? One of my favourite local wineries is called Quail's Gate.

How about
QQ
Quacking Quail's

Quail(s’) Creek
Quail(s’) Crossing

Thanks guys!

Quail Club
Quail's Gate (Cardroom?)
Quail Street Cardroom
Quail Room
Quail Creek
Quail Crossing
Q Club (Aria/Bellagio theme)

I will likely tie in the Hollywood (some of my friends used to call me Hollywood) as the location, which will work well since I'm using more cali style colors anyway.

Feel like I'm a member of this club :)

I liked the last 3 inlays you posted.
Maby you could combine 1 of them with what Ethan said?

A “nest” or “group “ of Quail are a COVEY.
I like using the word “Covey” somehow...
Quail’s Covey
The Covey
Hard Cover Covey

Smart, wild quail love to run and not fly. Makes them difficult to hunt.
Runner, Runner or
Lay Low
could be an interesting play on words quail related.

Cool ideas! Been a busy few weeks and I haven't given this too much thought.

I had posted some of these on the CD as ideas for inlay's. I'm really over over the place here. I quite like that crest and wonder if I can do something with it, but I also like the idea of incorporating a vintage Hollywood sign.

I like the sound of quail club. Just contact P5woody and tell him you want a vintage style inlay and get him to mock some stuff up.

Of the options so far I like Quail Creek, but what about Quail Run Card Room/Club
as another option

Others

Quail Ridge
Quail Hills
