Flush
First of all, credits for photos:
Lightbulb moment occurred a couple weeks ago. Friends, who never show interest in chips, suddenly lit up at the idea of playing with house mold chips from casinos they recognize, especially if some chips are live. I asked about a set that is all from one casino...much less interest. Mixed set is where it's at and if a mixed house mold gets my friends excited to play, then maybe this is where I should invest.
Re-label?
Over label only. And I'd prefer to minimize the amount of that.
What Chips Do I Already Have?
I own 2 racks of Lucky 21 hot-stamped 5s. I love these and intend to use them as nickels - a barrel a head. Cuz, yes, those are the stakes I play! None of the other chips in quantity yet.
Proposal #1
This is my dream (but unrealistic) lineup. I already have the Lucky 21 chips. I can get the Luxor, Mandalay Bay, and Caesar's. Getting a rack or more of the Cache Creek is probably going to be impossible (or if possible, at a high price).
with the Mirage $3 or Dunes $100 as the $100:
Proposal #2
I am strongly leaning this way. Much more attainable. Cache Creek as or Dunes as $100. I don't think the Sundance $5 works quite as well, but it is still fine and I can get racks. Yes, it is red and the Lucky 21 is pink, but in real life they are distinguishable, even in dim (that pink really fluoresces!). And playing 5c/10c, I don't expect more than a couple $5s on the table as value chips. Also, less over-labeling, particularly if I go with the Dunes $100.
Proposal #3
The Resort World $2 as a nickel looks great and fits progression. The peach color matches the Mandalay Bay perfectly. But 2 strikes against this lineup. Harvesting $2 chips for both the nickel and quarter will get pricey. Also, the grey GN (as much as I love it) blends a bit too much with the $1 in dim light - and they will get a lot of play together.
Proposal #4
This one is also pretty attainable (except for the Flamingo - probably would have to be replaced by Caesar or something else). But I don't really like how it looks. And no nickel in this lineup.
A photo of some of my house molds, so let me know if you want to see more chips side by side (for my benefit or for yours)!
- The Mirage is from chipguide.com (thank you for the work you do!)
- The Dunes is from Spinettis (great selection of chips - go buy some!)
- Rest are my own
