Don't have a scale and need to print a shipping label. What's the ballpark (on the highside) weight of 100 THCs in good (no flea bites) condition. Just chip weight... I'll make my own round ups for box+packing materials.

Thanks!

I'm still not too comfortable with a small FRB. Can someone show me how they are packing them in.

I just shipped 100 chips in a MFRB because the small was too tight. I didn't like it. I figured i just got pad $300 for some chips, least i can do is cover the extra $7 for the Medium box.

Also.. i found 1 of these boxes at the post office.

https://store.usps.com/store/browse...e&categoryId=priority-mail&productId=P_O_BOX4

I asked for more but they said they don't carry them, but they said you can order them for free from USPS.com (which i just did)

I sent 100 chips in this box with PLENTY of room. It cost $9.80 to ship the 100 chips so $3 more than a SFRB.

Edit:
Sorry , i know the OP is only asking about the aprox. weight of 100 chips but thought this might be useful.

Take a barrel of chips and lay it on a piece of plastic wrap or newspaper. Push the barrel over to the side so the chips start to lay down on one another. Roll the chips up like a burrito and tape the center shut. Fold each end over and secure with tape. Be sure everything is snug. Repeat four more times. Add padding to the bottom and sides of the SFRB. Place barrels in the box. Add padding to the top of the box. Close the box and tape all edges. Done. Mail da chipes.

I hear you with that. I shipped 100 chips in the small box today and I wasn't 100 percent thrilled with it.
I made two 50 chip logs, wrapped in cellophane. I then wrapped each log in 3 layers of small bubble bubble wrap. I put an additional layer of bubble wrap under both logs and over both logs and a whole bunch in between the logs and on the ends.
It was a little too much for the box, but with enough tape, the box closed plenty tight enough.
Like I said, I was't 100% thrilled with this packing job because I like to OVEROVERPACK.
But realistically, this was enough to protect the chips from all but the most forceful of intentional violence. And what are the odds of that happening?

Now I just want to eat a burrito.

I read that the rate for this box is based on the weight, and where it is going to. Is that the case, or am I mistaken? I would like some of these as well, and I'd go so far to order them online, but I may not if there is no flat rate.

I agree with this completely. Unless I have a chip box that I can put inside the SFRB, I usually opt for a MFRB when I get to 100 chips.

In terms of rolling, I took the advice of @BGinGA. Buy a box of generic sandwich baggies from the dollar store (quart sized), drop in 40 chips, roll it tight like a blunt, then tape. In my opinion, easier than fucking with plastic wrap. I can usually get 2 rolls of 40 in a SFRB and still feel good about the foam/bubble wrap I'm adding as well.

Yes it is based on where its going. I'm shipping one to California from Mass tomorrow.. i'll let you know how much it costs.

I kind of did that. But still didn't see how you can get padding around all 6 sides. Up to 60 chips yes. I'll use the SFRB. Anything else gets a bigger box.

I've shipped several dozen racks of chips in a SFRB, using the smaller white chip boxes with bubble wrap and filler to make sure nothing moves. Never a casualty. Only issue was one lost shipment to France (which you cant track or insure) years ago, so anything going overseas now does so in a MFRB, no exceptions.

This. Except my lone lost intl shipment was a MFRB.

Put the Small FRB inside of 3 Padded Flat rate envelopes. Tape around the first two padded envelope (one at a time) and make it tight so the SFRB doesn't move around. The 3rd will fit snug. Reverse the direction (top/bottom) each time you put it inside of another PFRE. Same $6.80 price. Triple protected.

The whats?
No padded flat rate envelopes at my post office. Plenty of boxes. Plenty of boxes. But no padded flat rate envelopes.

Order 10 x 10 pack. (not the 15 pack) and you will get a case of 100.

So i found my receipt. From yesterday.

The 7x7 priority box that you can get for free from the USPS website. Cost $9.75 to ship 100 chips to Ashland VA. from Boston MA

$9.75 vs $6.80 for a SFRB. I know you guys that work in percentages think tis is terrible but we are talking $100s of dollars in chips here.

And the chances of that 7x7 box getting destroyed by inept handlers is much greater than a triple-padded SFRB for three bucks less. Anything that even remotely resembles a ball will get drop-kicked like one.

Ok so learned a valuable lesson today.

A 7X7 Priority box from MA to CA with 100 chips in it cost $16.

Should have gone with the MFRB.

Apparently those 7x7 are cheaper than the MFRB if you stay in certain zones.. for me it was pretty much west of the mississippi!! (she said)

@ Drop kick the 7x7 box.... LOL.. yes i can see the temptation. But !! if theres padding inside a drop kick shouldn't hurt the chips. Drop kick the SFRB and i would not hold out hope.

I could undervalue my home and save 20% on my home insurance premium, why not? I've never had an issue. But i don't. I like being covered for the one time something does happen.

At the end of the day we do what we feel comfortable with. I'm comfortable with a MFRB.

Again, I defer to the shipping expert.

the stubborn guy who seems to know it all, regardless of what other very experienced shippers have posted.
