Seeing if anyone has an advice for me. Last week I went to my local USPS and asked about using their priority flat rate boxes to ship internationally (Hong Kong). They said they would be fine to use. I followed up by asking what if it was slightly heavier than the 20 pound limit stated on their website. They told me “oh that won’t be a problem.”
This morning… after spending an hour packing up 1000 chips and then bringing this heavyyyyy ass box to the post office (23 pounds) - they told me that they couldn’t process the shipping label because it was over weight. I asked if it mattered if I put it in a large flat rate box vs medium and they said no. I asked if I could put this box in a brown/plain box and relabel and they said “I can’t tell you that for sure.” Very frustrated.
Had to go home with the box and now searching for a way forward. I really don’t want to repackage everything if they won’t even accept it the next time. I could split it up into two boxes and pay double shipping costs… which I might need to do I guess. Any other thoughts?
