Seeing if anyone has an advice for me. Last week I went to my local USPS and asked about using their priority flat rate boxes to ship internationally (Hong Kong). They said they would be fine to use. I followed up by asking what if it was slightly heavier than the 20 pound limit stated on their website. They told me “oh that won’t be a problem.”

This morning… after spending an hour packing up 1000 chips and then bringing this heavyyyyy ass box to the post office (23 pounds) - they told me that they couldn’t process the shipping label because it was over weight. I asked if it mattered if I put it in a large flat rate box vs medium and they said no. I asked if I could put this box in a brown/plain box and relabel and they said “I can’t tell you that for sure.” Very frustrated.

Had to go home with the box and now searching for a way forward. I really don’t want to repackage everything if they won’t even accept it the next time. I could split it up into two boxes and pay double shipping costs… which I might need to do I guess. Any other thoughts?

I think most of the international shoppers here only have experience in packages 20 lbs or less. Seems like your best bet to have them accept the package is two boxes of they can't comment on whether they can ship a package that's over 20 lbs.

If you can get it to me (I'm in Adrian Michigan), I can ship this for a cost of 75USD to hongkong. I have a very nice negotiated contract with FedEx. The service is called international connect, and takes 7-10 days.

@FullSet uses me all the time for reshipping, if you want a reference

Toss me a PM if you want.
Oh man this would be a huge help if possible!

Certainly. Considering a large flat rate is $117 this will be way cheaper even when you add the cost to get it to me. I don't have weight limits on my FedEx contract.

Yip, I’m in awe of this man’s work. Multiple packages. Insanely quick shipping and professional packaging :D

They won't allow any weight over 20 on M and LFRBs and no more than 3lbs on SFRBs on international. Even 1 Oz over and the system will lock them out to make the label. A 3.5 SFRB taught me this lesson.
