Hey everyone! I've been lurking here on and off for a while as various endeavours have prevented me from committing any real time to this project.
I'm finally looking to rekindle the fun of having poker nights with friends but want to go above and make it a unique experience. Have been doing reasearch and want to put together a custom set of chips for my games.
i'm impressed with the history and designs that seem to keep popping up. Prior to discovering this, I really had no idea this was such a thing.

Anyway, looking forward to getting at least a little involved here as time goes.

How do you guys decide what chips to either purchase or play with? Does everyone here have a storage room for various chips they use? lol The deeper I go the greater the indecision.

How tricky is it to design and get a set made? Seems like its relatively common on here

Welcome from the left side, eh.

Get samples, enough to shuffle if you really like them. There's 3 links that go into detail about different categories of chips here https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/new-members-start-here.85303/

IMO a good custom set starts with a solid theme. Hire an experienced designer here to help bring it to fruition. Don't be like me and dump 1000s on a bland "your name card room" for your first set.

If you don't want to spend thousands on high end CPCs, tina web/Greek molds are a good compromise between quality and value.
