Hi to everyone.
I bought a 1000 Chips Set wit denomination 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 500 and 1000. I want to host a private Tournament an I am wonderig what starting Stack would be best for a 10 Player single Table round. I thought on something like.

8x 5
8x 10
6x 25
6x50
4x 100
2x 500

What do you think? Is there any rule on how many chips should be on table?

Thanks

You will be getting a lot of criticism from about everybody here for buying a premade set just as an advanced warning. We also need to know how many of each denomination you have in order to know what set we are working with.

There is lots of helpful information on this topic here, keep on digging a bit.
First step would be to decide wether you want a T5 T25 or T100 tournament. That means what will be your lowest denomination.
This will then sort of dictate which other denominations you will use, depending on the quantities you have in your set, so give us the breakdown, please.

T5: 5, 25, 100, 500
T25: 25, 100, 500, 1000
T100: probably not doable without 5000 chips, but depends on how many 1000s you have.

As you see, you only really use four denominations. If you provide us with more information on breakdown and what stack size you want to start with (200bb?), we will be able to help you with the distribution.

How many of each chip do you have?

For a tournament that starts with a 5 chip, usually you're gonna have something like

5 x 10
25 x 10
100 x 7
500 x 2
Total value 2,000

or

5 x 15
25 x 13
100 x 6
500 x 2

Total Value 2,000

10 and 50 chips are typically not used.

Yup you blew it with the 10 and 50. Not going to sugar coat it. Other people will learn from these errors.

If you made an online purchase EU's got your back, thanks to distance selling directive you could be able to return it, if you bought it online.
So this woul be an option, if you want to inform yourself a bit more on a better chip breakdown.

However, as a beginner, a set like yours doesn't have to be bad, despite what people will be telling you...
The guys on the Ferrari forum will laugh at your post for the purchase of your first car - a Fiat 500. It will get you from A to B nontheless.
What I'm trying to say - if you also plan to play some low stakes cash games, maybe you'll be able to use all chips.

For the tournament, stick to what springbox said, or try to research more on this site, there is plenty of knowledge floating around.

Edit: Just saw your location, no idea if Switzerland has the same consumer rights as EU regarding online purchases, not a lawyer :)

My admonishing has nothing to do with the cost of the set, and everything to do with the efficiency of it. I made the same mistake when I started out, and I don't want others to waste time and money.

Define your game first. Cash vs. Tournament, number of players, blind structure or bank requirements. There is plenty of help and predefined structures that work with 99% of playstyles. Once you've learned that, there is plenty of time to buy what you need.

Thanks very much for your help guys. I bought it on an online auction house for 40 Swiss francs which is around 48 USD. The Set suits what I am about to host. Nothing professional just have a good time with my friends. Cutting the 10s and the 50s is the way to go for a tournament and was the info I needed. I already found the rest of infos like Breakdown and Blind structure.
